Amazing experience in this new location. I loved the ambiance of this place. Came here on a Friday night dinner for two and was able to get squeezed in with no problem. The dining room is huge and inviting. The decor is really beautiful from high ceilings and glass chandeliers to lit up bar with lit up amber walls and lots of seats. The menu was pretty similar to bay ridge location, good amount of salads to comfort foods like mac and cheese with truffle to chicken wings and fried calamari. Also lots of creative pizzas with Italian twist, you can find prosciutto toppings or soppressata to just a classic margherita or sicilian style and even white pizzas. You can also customize pizza with own toppings. Before we even read the menu we were greeted by friendly waiter who made sure we got some good drinks flowing right away, if you want a wine bottle its about 38 bucks so you can opt for just glass instead; my fiancés pinot grigio was chilled and big glass and it was not cheap quality. My margarita on the rocks was strong and not too sweet, they were not stingy with tequila! I also loved the fresh bread basket that was complimentary with and olive tomato spread, definitely authentic Italian! We decided to try fried calamari and omg it was the best ive had in a long time! Crispy with no oil, not too salty, big portion, and good marinara sauce with lemon; the breading was amazing it didnt come off and i felt like i was eating chips! The large wood fired pizza with truffle arugula parmesan and prosciutto was to die for, it came with eight slices with thin crispy crust; everything was fresh and flavorful it works very well together . I also loved the campania salad, goat cheese walnuts and arugula is a fresh match made in heaven. It was nice to have all seasoning on the table beforehand so I didnt have to bother waiter. I also tried a side of truffle fries and I wasn’t impressed, for seven bucks I expected more then a tiny basket and I tasted zero truffle, i was also not impressed with just a little ketchup, they can do something more creative like chipotle mayo. Also when I asked for hot sauce they gave me buffalo sauce instead, i was expecting something closer to tobasco. I think overall this place is great for birthdays girls night date night or family dinner and the price is right! I do feel the dining room can get pretty loud making it hard to talk across the table. I also don’t understand reservations for two people for rooftop, seems like thats the only part of restaurant that takes reservations for two seriously while indoor and outdoor part just wants walk ins only , hopefully next time I return ill be lucky enough to experience the highly...
Read moreValet parking was a fancy touch and a great start. Minimal wait even with the request of specifically getting a booth. It was serendipitous that the timing worked out that it was maybe 10 minutes at most from walking in to sitting down. For our appetizer, we started with the fried calamari which I chose the marinara as a side. Light and crispy. It's perfect when you have fresh squeezed lemon juice on top and just a touch of salt. It didn't last long at the table. For the entree, I ordered the Spaghetti Cacio Pepe. A cheese and peppercorn pasta dish. Though beautifully displayed, I just did not seem to like the dish. I must admit that the dish lacked flavor. I don't think salt helped much either. I don't know what I could suggest to make it taste better. Our server noticed that I didn't want to take the rest home and with most of the food untouched, she had asked what I didn't like about it and tried my best to explain but I really couldn't. I will say I was a little blindsided (though appreciated) that a manager came over to my table. I will say for the record that I did not ask for a manager nor did I ask for a refund. However the kind manager removed the dish off my bill and offered an alternate. By that point, I just wanted dessert and ordered the tiramisu. The lady fingers had a sugar crust and soaked with espresso with a creamy mascarpone cheese filling. After a full meal this might be a dish for two but as I didn't eat much, I ate the whole thing myself. Overall my experience was very much enjoyable. The staff was nice, the interior and exterior was clean and well maintained. Overall, I definitely will return but will keep in mind to order another entree at that point. We don't always have control of the circumstances but we can always control how we react to it. The staff at Campania has...
Read moreCampania Coal-Fired Pizza was reserved for birthday dinner. We got a table in the corner and it gave us some privacy because place was overloaded with people. The interior is designed in dark and gold colors and was sparkling in the light of chandeliers. It was little hard to walk around because the tables are placed too close. The waiter gave us too much time for food choices but we were a great company and it is nothing to complain about. Soon we got bread on the table with some tomato sauce and drinks. Really. The Italian place can not serve such bread which felt as couple days old, dry as paper. And sauce did not make it somehow better. FRESH MOZZARELLA and TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE were our appetisers. Mozzarella was horrible rubbery with no mentioned grilled peppers. The basil and some spring mix that were placed instead of peppers was very fresh, olive oil was flavourful and olives were tasty with few slices of prosciutto. Overall I don’t believe they can charge 21 for such dish. TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE was tasty with interesting rings pasta with good texture of the sauce but no one noticed any truffle flavour. Next we got gnocchi with lobster. It was special dish on menu for Ester. Nicely served, delicious sauce, soft and silky gnocchi but we barely found any lobster in. The star of the table were pizza pies. Little over baked but delicious. We ordered Lombard pizza, Ortolano pizza and one pie half chicken buffalo and pepperoni. All of them were very tasty and enjoyable. Even those who didn’t want to have pizza that day couldn’t stand to have a piece. We had a great time, environment was little too loud but we definitely are planning...
