We have been to its sister restaurant in Bay Ridge and the food and service were fabulous. My parents kept raving about it after our first trip, and when they visited this time, I decided to take them on a trip to NY and later have dinner in Richmond Ave location.
I do realize 10:25 pm is late for dinner, that’s why I called this location at 10 pm and asked if they are still serving dinner/if we can still order pizza if we arrive by 10:30 or if it is too late. I also said, if it helps, I can give our order over the phone so they start cooking and I’ll give credit card # to charge it to as well. This way by the time we arrive, pizza would be ready, to save time. Very cheerful hostess said ordering over the phone is not necessary, they are open, and 10:30 pm is absolutely not too late for dinner. We were very excited!
However, when we arrived, the workers were very apologetic, but said that the cook has left and they are not serving food anymore, and in fact about to close. Hostess that spoke to us and said it is ok to come in for dinner at 10:30 has also left. They asked if I called the right location, because there are others, and I showed them the phone # i dialed on my phone, which was Richmond Avenue location. Mind you, according to their website, they are open until 11:30 pm on Saturdays.
We did not get to try their pizza to comment on the quality of the food, but are very disappointed the staff that answers the phone doesn’t know hours of operation/policies and made us drive 30 min out of our way and 30 min back.
I completely understand if she said they are about to close and it is too late to come come for dinner at 10:30 pm, which is reasonable, it was kate. However, I am very upset about the fact that we were told to come in no problem, and then turned away after driving 30 min to this specific restaurant.
I have previously mentioned what a great food Campania serves to a number of friends who live in NY, I will be sure to share my experience and suggest they take their business...
Read moreMy fiancé and I ordered from the website to have our meal delivered to us from this Richmond ave location, which we have done before and we’ve never had any issues. This time we noticed that something we got was not what we thought we ordered. Upon calling, the host informs us that we had actually selected what is was that we thought we didn’t. She was very nice about it, however, when we had asked to get what we actually wanted she just gave us directly to the manager who was IMMEDIATELY defensive for no reason, assuming that we wanted the meal for free and when we told him that we would pay for it he asked if we would be paying with cash or card when we told him cash. I just asked him to make sure that they had change because I knew that we only had higher bills. He then asked who I was talking to, and when repeated myself he proceeded to laugh at me. I am never someone to right a review but I have been a manager myself and understand being defensive of your employees. However, when the customer has done absolutely nothing wrong and has given zero issue, they are just looking to rectify something there’s no reason to get nasty, defensive or childish. I love the food and normally love the atmosphere of this place but this experience really left a bad taste in my mouth and has left me questioning whether I...
Read moreI drove by the Richmond av location so many times, that when they opened up on Hyland blvd I had to come. The decor was simple black w/ red wall paper and grand size chandeliers. It remind me of an old time saloon. On this particular Saturday it was crowed and we had to wait an hour till they rang our beeper to be seated. We started w/ the egg plant parmigiana it was delicious and big enough for two ppl. My husband ordered the lobster ravioli in a shrimp and vodka like sauce. The ravioli was perfectly cooked, not too hard not too soft! At my waitress recommendation I opt for the lobster roll. It was not to my satisfaction. The bread was soft and tasty but not enough lobster meat. It also had a “its missing” something..but I could not pin point it. Maybe a pinch of salt or lemon. As I was once told, don’t go to a steak house and order tilapia. Same goes here, don't go to a coal pizza joint and order a lobster roll. Especially a $24 bad roll. The grand finale was the cannoli. The order has 2 so its so perfect for sharing. As the lobster roll was NOT, the cannoli was indeed generously fill from end to end in a fresh cream and crispy crust its...
