I am writing this review as an Uber driver. Haven’t tasted the food and never will after my experience. I went in and gave the names for the orders I was there to pick up, the man at the register handed me 2 bags and I left. I should have confirmed but I didn’t and normally the restaurant’s get it right. When I delivered the 2nd order the customer knew it was wrong. I offered to go back to the restaurant even though I don’t have to and as I stated that Uber called asking me to return to the store. Fine. When I walked in to swap bags the owner accused me of taking the wrong bags! As if I walked in grabbed bags and left. I told him the guy behind the counter handed me the bags, then he asked who like I know the workers and no one was up front now. I said whoever is at the register. He ran to the back and when he came back told me I should have confirmed. Whatever. Then I said I can’t believe you accused me of taking bags off your counter! Don’t you have cameras in this place. Check them before you accuse people. He looked embarrassed but would not apologize. Then had the nerve to call the customer who was waiting for me to return with his food and blamed me. Smh. Don’t support his business. I felt racially profiled. Lost my tip after making two trips for their mistake. That’s gas...
Read moreFood is good. Many options for the entire family. But service is not ideal. Also, they often have their employees sitting in the large booths by the window immersed in their cell phones. The last two times I've gone, my family of six had to sit at smaller booths that don't fit a family of six because a single employee sat in the larger booths, the ones that fit six people. I also recently ordered and specifically said "food is to stay, but we will order now so that when we get there from Westchester in fifteen minutes, we want the food to be ready." The guy on the phone acknowledged that it would be, and when we got there, the food was in a bag to go, making for an awkward interaction and stares from patrons who were wondering why we were eating takeout in the restaurant. We also ordered dishes that were missing essential components and weren't told till the food came out. Staff also is so busy with takeout that they ignore people at the restaurant. We were literally the only people there and were ignored when an issue arose. I'm happy this option exists, don't get me wrong, but every time I come here, I get frustrated. Someone with true management experience should be there...
Read moreI had been wanting to try this restaurant out. However, they were always closed. I was across the street taking care of some other business & I noticed that they were open. I had the money to spare & thought I'd head on over. First thing I noticed was no A/C. I deducted 1 star for that. It was sweltering inside while I was waiting for my food. They were also out of a few menu items. Just side orders. I deducted 1 star for that as well. I must admit. The idea of a kosher Mexican restaurant never occurred to me. Albeit, I've come to expect the unexpected here in NYC. Especially since the restaurant is in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. Be that as it may, my food was delicious. The Mexican Rice was fluffy & tender. I was served a generous portion too. It wasn't hard & sticky like some restaurants. My Chipotle Chicken & Chipotle Steak Burritos were definitely on point. They were definitely better than any other burritos I'd had up to that point. They were a bit pricey. But, they were well worth it. Between the two of them (& the rice) I had food for two days! I would definitely recommend Carlos & Gabby's to anyone looking for some good quality authentic...
