Delmas 48 — Restaurant in New York

Came to the restaurant because I'm gf and my sister is vegan. My sister got the spinach pate and vegan fritay. I got the gf makawoni au graten and the beef bel air burger. The food came out fast and hot. I thought the pate was ok. She really enjoyed her vegan fritay. The burger comes with a mango jalapeno jam which was spicy to me but I have no heat tolerance. The burger was seasoned well. The plantain fries are great! I didn't find the makawoni to be anything special. The only complaint I really have is the place is hot.

We came back and the food has improved! The makawoni has a nice creaminess to it and is seasoned well. I got the fried chicken and white rice with beans. I almost cleaned the plate. They have a new leogane spicy Alfredo that my sister got. It looked so good. My sister really liked it. We had to wait a bit because we were a party of 4 but it was so worth it. Hot...

I ordered delivery while at work right as they opened. I ordered 2 beef patties and the Griot Fritay. The server called and said they only have 1 beef pattie left and will give me 2 veggie patties for a total of 3. Didn't want that but I figured whatever. The meat I. The beef pattie was not tasty, it had a raw, unfresh taste . I believe they were leftovers from previous days, hence the reason they already"ran" out when they literally just opened. The Fritay was good but the marinade needed seasoning it was very bland. It might be helpful to punch holes in the container when delivering fried foods because it arrived soggy. The pikliz has no spice none whatsoever. Pikliz is supposed to have a kick, not just taste like vinegar. All this is my reasoning...

Not many vegan choices in Staten Island but I enjoyed this one. Had the vegan fritay appetizer which was fried plantains 2 ways, fried sweet potatoes, vegan sausage and vegan fried jackfruit chicken. The chicken texture was crispy and tasted chicken-y. It was all delicious but I craved some hot sauce. I had the black rice with vegan fried jackfruit chicken and a side of collard greens. It was very tasty and satisfying, the collards were so tender and flavorful you could have drank them through a straw. Lots of vegan options though the restaurant is not vegan. Looking forward to going back and trying...
