Downey's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in New York

My husband and I enjoy dining at Downey’s Bar & Grill whenever we happen to be in the area and we decided to have my dad’s 95th birthday celebration there with a lunch that included many family and friends. The 3-hour event was such a wonderful success with the spacious event room that was made available to us to decorate as we pleased, combined with a variety of menu choices to select from, and a cash bar as per our preference. Our guests enjoyed the delicious food and variety very much, as per their feedback. The owner, Brian, was very pleasant, helpful, patient, and accommodating right from the start of our planning and ensured that our special table layout request was as we desired. Another asset was that Brian assigned a fantastic staff member, Jimmy, to assist with any and all of our requests as the party was going on. Great place great people. I attended a function for Disabled Veterans it was Great ! We had raffles,great food. And the Volunteers were the best they had speakers that spoke to us not at us. Usually people donate space for us to have things but ! You don't meet the owners not these guys they talked & had fun wit us like we were friends and not Like we were Disabled Veterans it was Great ! Not one question about why my leg had Scars on it from surgeries they didn't even see my legs and I had on Shorts . WOW great people. Oh boy They had a kid there serving by the name Of Conner this young man handled a room wit 30 grumpy, battle tested Marines,Army artillery,and special forces Wit ease 🫡He didn't break a sweat And knew the menu in his head and kept The orders straight 🤷🏾‍♂️could be my RTO Man any day. This is the first time visiting this place. I haven't been here since it was Kelly Ryan's. We had our Holiday party here because of the location which was close to work. The happy hour specials were good, but I was never told what time it ended. Some of my drinks were half priced then without notice I was charged regular price at 5:30. The bartender must have been just learning how to make certain drinks because he wasn't familiar with making a coworker's bloody mary lol. We had appetizers such as nachos, which could have been better. Wasn't enough cheese on it and had dumps of chili dumped on top. The chicken wings, fries, and mozzarella sticks were fine.
