Family Garden — Restaurant in New York

I have been stopping here for years to buy one of their made in-house ice teas and an occasional egg roll but today was the first time I tried one of their lunch specials So here's the scoop...the people working here are friendly. It is a restaurant geared to takeout but there are four tables for eating at the restaurant which is what I did. The food is typical of one of these neighborhood "mom & pop" neighborhood Chinese restaurants. The food was freshly cooked, portions were generous but made with a bit too much salt in the sauces. I had Hunan chicken (the white meat was a plus) which came with fried rice and wonton soup (as in many of the restaurants the wontons were a bit too doughy. So while the food is not good enough to stop me from visiting Chinatown, Family Garden is okay for when you need a quick fix of Chinese food! ...

Saturday night place was packed out.. I did call ahead they didn't take reservations, but put us on awaiting list which work out well.. Started with empanadas very good. . Main dish I had unbelievable Mango Chicken with white rice and beans. .. Valets are nice but the taffic off northern blvd is always jam up which was pain .. Food was awesome, only thing I didn't like was seating downstairs a little tight but all and all good atmosphere & excellent food .. waitress was very attentive made sure I had a cold beverage at all times very good...

Ive been eating here for over 20 years and it still like its always been food is always hot taste is spot on out of all the take out restaurant that have changed in my neighborhood this spot s taste has stayed on point.its a small spot but thats where i usually find the best food is it not if your new to the neighborhood or not dont forget this spot always good too have lots of options..from your favorite foodie...
