Island Burger — Restaurant in New York

When you pay with card, there is a $10 minimum!! The customer service is really good and the employees are helpful. The plexiglass makes it hard to communicate with the employees even with the little holes in it but it was workable. I had the chicken wings and fries the first time i went which was yesterday, and it was REALLY good. the wings were well seasoned but my only problem was that it seems like the wings weren’t cleaned properly. There was tendons and fat all over the outside under the crust if you know what i mean. so i made it hard to enjoy the outside. today, i tried the fried shrimp and fries. it was also well seasoned but the batter seemed too thin. like the crust on the outside needs to be thicker, but overall it was really good. today, i also tried the mac & cheese. it has a salty crust of cheese on top and creamy mac and cheese underneath. it looks really good but the taste is kind of weird. it’s like slightly sweet with a spicy undertone. the actual mac and cheese needs more salt and the cheese that was put on top needs to be less salty. it was okay but i wouldn’t buy it again. garlic sauce, tamarind sauce, and bbq sauce is an unmatched combination! UPDATE: I don’t think I’ll stop until I try everything on their menu and even after that I don’t think I’ll stop!! The crispy chicken strips and sweet potato fries are literally perfection!! It’s sooooo good and well seasoned....

Customer service at this location is terrible. I have ordered takeout from Island Burger on Utica Ave in Brooklyn several times. Every time I order ahead to pickup in store, my food is ready and sitting behind the counter while I wait for someone to hand it to me. The staff members on duty will always prioritize working the register, and performing other small tasks that should come after serving customers who are waiting. I had a nasty encounter with an older lady named Glenda who works at Island Burger at 504 Utica Ave. As soon as I walked in the store, I saw a bag with my name on it waiting behind the counter to be picked up. Glenda came from behind the counter and ignored me, and went lackadaisically stocking juices in the refrigerator. Before acknowledging me, she went to help a DoorDash driver who walked in several minutes afterwards. When I confronted her for service because I had been patiently waiting, she crossed her arms and said to me, “yeah, and?” She continued to go back and forth with me in front of other customers and never handed me my order. After passing the location several times and seeing a crowd. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon when it was not too busy. I wanted to try the salmon burger but was immediately told "No salmon and no shark" followed by silence. There was no attempt to sell any of the other selections by the cashier.

I settled on the 8 oz burger and fries paid and waited. In less than 3 minutes the order was ready which made me a little suspicious. I stepped up to the condiment station and with each selection the girl working there said "Is that it?" Finally I was done and was handed my purchase, said thank you and got no response.

When I arrived at home I popped open the box and was met with limp fries. I grabbed one and tasted. Not good, I could taste the very old oil they had been cooked in. Next with a quick bite of the burger my suspicions were confirmed. The meat was not fresh and having worked in the restaurant industry for a number of years, I knew the burger had been cooked prior to me placing my order and simply reheated.

I was somewhat unhappy with the service but extremely disappointed in the food. Needless to say I will not be returning to this...
