J&V Halal Food Gyro & Chicken Over Rice — Restaurant in New York

I used to get halal food at my old work office every so often. But the new work office doesn’t have a truck nearby. So I was suddenly craving halal food tonight. Had seen this truck advertised on Facebook with good reviews. Gave it a shot and all I can say is wow. Super nice guy working who was also very quick. Super clean truck (a bit rare in NYC) Amazing lamb and chicken (not Street meat quality, actual chunks of lamb and chicken). Delicious rice. Great white sauce. Hot sauce was a really nice kick but not ridiculously overpowering heat like some trucks. Actually cooked the pita and really cooked the lamb nicely resulting in a super nice crisp to both and fantastic portions at a fair price to boot. This spot being 5 minutes from my house is a danger. But gosh his food is delicious. He said it’s the best in New York. I could believe it now Definitely...

I am halal cart fanatic ever since going back to the halal guys. Halal guys quality has gone a bit downhill since their expansion. I also tried many halal carts in staten island and they all let me down. I use to travel 1 hr to queens to buy 8 to bring home and freeze cause the halal food is not as good. But my prayers were answered after finding out this place which hasn't been opened for too long. And let me tell you the food here is better and bigger for the price you get @ halal guys. The rice is more flavorful and the chicken isn't so dry the white sauce is great. There might be times where you might have to wait for a bit longer cause there is only 1 person operating the cart. But it is well worth it. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

For a moment of thought my girl wants to have Halal food as our dinner cause we havent have a chance to get it since we move into SI. We found this place on google map with a 4.9 rating so let’s get a try. I mean the reviews are very true and honest. I doubted the portion before I ordered it cause it never considers a “huge portion” food to me, but I am so wrong. The portion is HUGE!!! I have never see this size of bowl from anywhere else and the food is definitely above average, we really enjoyed it and the owner is very nice and friendly.
