Jerome Deli Delicious — Restaurant in New York

I’ve been coming here multiple times a week since this deli opened. Almost everything is overpriced but that’s expected at a “gourmet” deli. The sandwiches are good, really expensive though unless you’re getting a breakfast sandwich. Let’s get down to the real meat and potatoes though, the reason I was prompted to leave this low star review. For this to be a ‘gourmet’ deli, there seems to be little care taken into keeping certain products under temperature control which can be a huge health risk. This is extremely unfortunate because 1) I’m already overpaying and 2) people can get sick. Just last week I bought a quart or half gal of milk and when I went upstairs to add it to my coffee, there was white specks floating. I’ve never seen such a thing and I figured my cup must’ve been dirty or something. The next day the same thing happened. The milk tasted fine to me but I tossed it and bought my milk from the discount store next door and the issue never happened again. Now tonight I bought a carton of Ben and Jerry’s for 7.50 and the texture is off. I can tell that it’s been melted and refrozen. It’s not creamy but icy. This is extremely disappointing. You would expect to be paying for quality food that’s kept in optimal condition. But I have suspicions that the dairy products may be left unchilled for an extended amount of time. Edit: I bought some domino sugar from here that was extremely hard and rocky. Again I’ve overpaying for a product that seems to have been left in less than optimal conditions. I’ve never in my life bought sugar and a huge portion of it was completely stuck together and useless. This is something I’d expect and accept from dollar tree but not a gourmet deli. The other night my partner and I stopped by this deli because my partner thought it looked really nice. It really did. They had plenty of options to choose from if you wanted a bagel or a sandwich and more. The only issue we had was with the guy behind the counter. Clearly my partner and I realized there was a language barrier since I kept asking “what types of bagels were available to choose from”. I was ignored twice and the guy behind the counter insisted to continuously heat up a raisin bagel which i didn’t want. I understand that NYC is a mix of cultures and that everyone deserves a chance at a job. At the end of the day, realistically speaking, someone must speak and understand English. If it were another customer in the same scenario, probably the customer would have become irate and the situation would have escalated into...

Would not recommend! Ordered delivery they charged me 21.47 for 6 50 cent stale chips, 10$ for a chop cheese on a roll, and gave me an opened snickers ice cream bar that tasted like freeze burn and another Twix bar that tasted like it was refrozen or improperly refrigerated. Like the other review said, they have bad temperature control and bad quality control. They said free delivery but somehow pulled 4.50$ out thin air and got me.
