DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BIGOTED ESTABLISHMENT —
We were invited to this place for a friend’s birthday. We were told there is no cover before 10PM.
We show up shortly before 10:00, there is no line. We file in at the door to get our ID’s checked.
-Suddenly, before entering, the door person asks us to read the house rules. Not a problem.
-They say “read them again.” And wait a minute for us to read. Nobody shows up behind us. I guess that’s okay.
-They say “make sure you read them throughly!” And make us wait another minute.
-There is then a POP QUIZ. We are quizzed on who to talk to if we feel uncomfortable. I try my best to answer, but take too long for their tastes and I am cut off with a snide verbal lashing.
After all of this theater, the time is now 10:02.
The door person insists that we all must pay the cover now. He made us feel very unwelcome and said that I was “a few minutes late” to not pay the cover, even though we arrived before 10.
I paid for our group, and visited my friend, but the mood was not good. I could not stop racking my brain as to why they did not want us inside the establishment. I couldn’t help but wonder if it was because of the way I looked??? It’s not like they know me. I felt very judged by this rude staff.
If you want to get scammed and feel unwelcome, go here. Otherwise, stay away. I will be back charging their door fees with my credit...
Read moreThe fear begins before you get to the bar, because to get here not by taxi requires a hike from the subway or closest citi bike station. When you arrive at the address you most certainly will think you are not in the right place. The rather drap looking door is sandwiched between a Western Beef parking lot and a nondescript manufacturing building all on the wrong side of the Newtown Creek. However once you enter, you realize this place ROCKS. Inside is a cozy spot that you know was built out for the purpose of wild parties. The bar is classic, the menu has a full list of natural wines, the dance floor is carpeted, and it’s so dark you know mischief must go down. DJs set up most nights and they can pipe the music to the surprisingly nice outdoor patio because nobody lives within a half mile. Serious party people only, get weird, don’t tell...
Read moreI had a negative experience with the bouncer here who was really rude to my whole group for no reason. I was shivering in the 20 degree weather and he told me its not his fault or problem that I’m cold, meanwhile we were patiently waiting and doing everything he was asking us to do… we weren’t rushing him or making any trouble.
Then he told us to read the ethics/rule sign, which we did, and then he said something like, “I swear I feel like I’m talking to myself sometime,” implying that we weren’t doing what he was saying. WE WERE! Overall just a huge vibe kill, and then when we came in the music was just alright… very repetitive house w no drops or anything interesting
$10 cover fee at the door and they asked that we tip them...
