Melao's Dominican Fast Food in the Bronx — Restaurant in New York

Well, my husband and I have started doing grub hub and door dash.. and he had picked up an order here.. he said the food smelled really good and wanted to try it... today was the day... my husband is a cook in a few Dominican restaurants.. so finding a good place that he like is difficult... we had mangu with 3 golpes.. you would think.. who can mess up that up...? Well we can tell you that the golpes were fine... but the onions on top were bitter... not your typical pickled onions... the worst part of that plate was thebmangu... we are Dominican... he's a cook.... and we have seen our fair share of bad platanos..we were served some old mangu that had a funny taste... now you can tell when mangu is from earlier in the day...or from the day before.. this one was definitely not from today....next we tried the cachapa with chicken.. it didn't taste too bad... but my husband said the chicken was a little hard and the outer layer was too.. I thought it was edible... it let itself be eaten... we had also has some pastelitos... those were super greasy... also looked like they were fried in old oil...the croquetas he said were good... too mushy for my liking.. it's a texture thing for me...

I'll update you guys on his thoughts on the salchipapas... I got full.... the only thing I liked a lot was their jugo de cereza... but I wouldn't run out there...

Horrible. Why do they have their own delivery person doing the deliveries. They lie and steal your money when you order from Uber eats. I ordered something so simple because this place was a few bus stops away from me . I checked to see my order an hour later and it was still in preparation. I contacted Uber and they said contact the restaurant and the girl didn’t speak english and I didn’t speak Spanish so I gave it a benefit of the doubt. She said they did delivered it but that was a lie because Uber takes a pic and you rate them. I’m still looking at the bowl mixing on my Uber app. I canceled the order but was going to get charged 26 dollars to cancel. 30 minutes later I called Uber and had them talk to the restaurant and she spoke Spanish and she even knew they was lying. I demanded my money and got my refund now Uber is going to investigate this restaurant where they can pull it off the app. Make this a lesson in general not to steal from hard...

After a minor inconvenience with an Uber Eats order, I reached out to the restaurant through their Instagram account to try and rectify the situation. WOW!!!! I was amazed at how the owner put me first as a paying customer and offered to personally deliver a brand new order of food on the house. I was pleasantly surprised!!!! The food was AMAZING! We loved it! The bandeja cibaeña was one of the best fritura platters I’ve had in the Bronx. The chicken yaroa made with french fries was literally the best yaroa I’ve had in NYC period. Everything was absolutely delicious and the simple fact that he went out of his way to make things right with me was very respectable. I’ve never seen or heard of an owner personally delivering about $60 worth of food at no cost to a customer! I would recommend Melaos 100%!
