Instead of getting rid of the drug rehab they decide to place right next to the park, they instead add boxes for addicts to "place their needles." This community had this 1 park to enjoy and now it's the private back yard of an inpatient drug rehab. Instead of families being able to relax in the park, you can barely walk through it anymore. For a couple of years the inpatient place was closed, and the park truly became a spot you could bring the whole family to enjoy. Once they reopened the place, it went down hill. The rehab has many many tables out front for them to sit, however they choose to sit next door in the park SO THEY CAN GET HIGH. The drug rehab should take more responsibility for ruining this community's one major park. It's also one of the only parks in walking distance with off leash hours for your dogs, which again is basically unsafe to utilize anymore. Tax payers of this neighborhood, who pay to maintain this park, should ban together to relocate the druggies. Move the rehab to the administrators neighborhood and take it out of ours!!

The park was clean and had plenty of space. The entire facility is brand new and everything was in working order. Big shout out the NYC Parks Department. This was an abandoned park that was very scary to walk through. But it’s slowly improving.

The 1970s were it's heyday. Hip hop actually started in this park. Today with a men's shelter next to it, it's been allowed to fall in to disrepair and over run by drugs and the life that springs for it.

This was written 2 year's ago. Iam glad say today that the park was had a much needed face lift. Not only have the lawns been manicured, they've planted trees, added playgrounds; for all ages. The park looks beautiful. Please remember these are our parks, and we need to care for them. The Parkie House has been repaired. And even if financial times dictate that it be closed, it need not fall...
