I had a very uncomfortable encounter today .At around 5:50pm on July 28 I went in to get a beef patty which they no longer serve at the church ave location . As I entered the store, there was a lady with braids sitting on her phone, and another dark skin lady behind the counter towards the bread oven. I was not greeted by anyone of these two individuals Which is confusing being seen that I was only person Inside the store at that moment.Next I asked about the beef patty and I was told that they weren’t making any anymore so I ordered a current roll instead as I order the current roll, the dark skin lady asked the lady with the braids, who was super close to the current roll container to pass her piece. She blatantly ignored her, which forced the dark skin lady to go around to that side to get me my current roll, Now with that being said the lady with the braids who was on her phone proceeded to walk towards the cash register now I’m being handed my current role from over-the-counter and I haven’t paid yet , I started handing my $10 bill to the dark skin lady that passed me the current roll and I directed to give it to the cashier, which was very confusing because I didn’t see no cashier at the moment there was a lady standing with her phone and oops forget to add her earpiece as well which is not the case I’m reporting this encounter but because I just felt like it’s some animosity happening in the store between the workers and it’s affecting the service that’s being given to the customers and before you say get over it, I go to the store all the time and this is not the first time I had a nasty Encounter with a worker , Most days I bypassed it like everyone has those days but today just felt like that encounter could’ve been avoided. Still enjoy the...
Read moreThe breads and bakes are really good but the attitude of their cashier is the sole reason I will never return.
I watched the female cashier be rude, loud and give an elderly retiree with a cane the nastiest attitude ever. I watch the whole thing occur, seems the ladies order was not understood and the customer informed them that she doesn’t want to return anything she just wanted to add what she really wanted to her order and she will keep what she didn’t want and also pay for it.
This cashier with a loud tone tells the woman ‘you should’ve made the right order, the machine can’t do that’. If that was my parent I would’ve lost it in this place. The servers are kind, but the cashier is a disgusting person and the owner should move her to the back to help the chefs and send her to a customer service class. Better yet fire her as previous reviews all state her nasty attitude. I would not recommend this place to anyone and as a Caribbean own restaurant we can DO BETTER, especially towards our elders. This cashier maybe didn’t have parents or grand parents? Maybe she doesn’t think she will get old like we all will. Whatever the cashier should be reprimanded. My regret is not video taping the incident to truly expose...
Read moreGrateful that Conrad’s Bakery is still around. Sir Conrad is a Caribbean-American legend and his bakery is Brooklyn institution. Despite the closure of his famous Utica Ave and Union Avenue landmark, he and his team are still churning out daily goods on Church Ave and 51st St.
If you need fresh daily bread, pastries and sweets, or custom cakes, check them out. They also have breakfast food that consist of various “bakes” and fillings.
I offer this feedback, as the lines can be wrapped around this tiny outpost, out the door. Please consider getting a handheld payment device (it’s an investment but worth it!) to expedite purchases for bread only. Not everyone is willing to stand in line for 20mins for bread only, while late comers seeking food get served before them. You have the staff. Less talk, more service. Money keeps walking out the door and this business...
