Let me first make it clear that New Park Pizza taste good every single time we have it. Hands down one of the very few places with the good stuff. Now this review isn’t about the food but more on the treatment received tonight by one of their worker JOSE. We order 2 pies & proceeded to head towards the back to grab a table. Took kids to the restroom to wash hands & so on. It wasn’t until another patron who advice on my order being announced for pick up at the counter that I realized I was called. Thanked him & proceeded. When I went to the front counter, I was approached by JOSE who asked if I was the one who order 2 pies to which I replied yes. He immediately proceeded to YELL at me stating I need to “PAY MORE ATTENTION” b/c he had called 3x’s. I apologized & said we didn’t hear him (place is pretty loud to begin with) but to please watch how he speaks to me as his attitude was unnecessary & unprofessional. I demanded he stopped. He continued to argue & asked if “DO YOU WANT THE PIES OR NO CAUSE I HAVE OTHER PPL TO TAKE ORDERS AND DON’T HAVE TIME TO ARGUE WITH YOU” (yet he had time to yell at me in front of at least another 16 other customers). I questioned if this is the way all workers at this place treat their customer being that everyone just stood there watching & listening while doing nothing about it. To my surprise one actually stated “WE DO”. I said they all need to check themselves b/c the disrespect is unnecessary & uncalled for. 2 other Spanish workers came & apologize on Jose’s behalf & even asked he “go to the back” in an attempt to get him to quiet down. To say it was EMBARRASSING is an understatement. Other customers recording the situation made my 9 yr old cry to the point he stated not ever wanting to go back ever. I know I’m just 1 customer who’s most definitely not returning & will most likely not affect this business in any way but I really wish that if the employees are having a long, rough, hectic day, they consider taking a BREAK/MENTAL DAY & unwind for the sake of their mental sanity. I even offer he be sent home & I cover & pay for the remainder of his shift. Truly upsetting but hey I guess we live & learn & I most definitely learned something here-don’t ever allow anyone to disrespect you under no...
Read moreAs a former New Yorker from Queens, having lived there for more than 45 years, I like to consider myself a pretty good judge of NY pizza. We stopped in here Saturday evening after doing some holiday shopping and wanted to enjoy some good old Queens pizza. I had never eaten pizza from here and figured I’d treat the Mrs., who’s from New Jersey, to a staple of NY culture. Shame on me for having such poor foresight.
First off, some of the guys working behind the counter weren’t the least bit attentive. I was just standing there while the guys seemed so preoccupied. I actually had to nicely ask for help, even though I was the only customer inside at the time. When I was served, I didn’t immediately notice how burnt the bottom of each slice was. After we both took our first bites, it became quite evident that something was wrong. The top of the pizza looked normal, but each bottom, when we flipped the slices over, was completely burnt to a crisp.
When I approached the counter and spoke to an older gentleman, presumably the guy in charge, he was utterly indifferent and said he’d replace the slices. When I turned to walk over to the trash receptacle holding the “garbage” he told me to give him back the slices, as if we were still going to eat them. He then tossed them into the trash can. When he gave me the new slices, they, again, looked like normal pizza. After we took the first bite, we both spit it out. It turns out these slices were seriously undercooked and tasted like, well, pizza dough. At that point it wasn’t even worth it for us to again approach this apathetic individual. So we simply left in disgust.
When I got home and Googled this pizza parlor, my complaints were thoroughly validated when I read some of the complaints by others who also had the analogous misfortune of venturing here. I looked at some of their posted pictures and, sure enough, if the pizza wasn’t burnt, it was relatively inedible.
Henry Ford once said, “A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business.” The next time I visit Howard Beach, Queens, I will make an earnest effort to forego pizza and try...
Read moreI actually enjoy new park pizza. Today my experiences make me not want to go back. Sometime these businesses get a bit confused of how to treat a paying customer. I walked in with another guy, he asked for two of the hottest slice, I said I’ll take the same but one slice instead of two. As my pizza came to the window it was a slice of cold pizza that didn’t look appetizing, I told the server I didn’t want that slice, he then asked so what do you want. I said I asked for a hot slice like the man next to me ( meanwhile the man was being served his two hot slices and his beverage) During that moment someone from the new park team asked if I wanted a fresh slice, I said yes please. The boy that had given me the small, cold slice got angry and said oh so your not going to answer my question, his question to me was what do I want if I don’t want the slice he was offering me. When the reasonable worker chimed in about the fresh slice, he felt as if I ignored him and decided to be argumentative, saying you cannot answer me and chastising me as if I was his child because I didn’t have a answer to his inconsiderate response. In that moment I looked around, I was the only woman, and the only African American in sight, of course I felt embarrassed with the way I was being treated. I felt racially attacked and as if my hard earned money wasn’t good enough for a fresh slice like the man who requested it and got what he requested. I walked out in disbelief and disgust that I was even being spoken to that way. I mean to argue with a customer after you didn’t provide a solution is ridiculous. This was such a weird encounter that I just decided to leave, while the man who came in with me walked out before me with his two fresh slices. Smh. Respect goes a long way, wash and every customer should be treated the same way as the next. I do not appreciate the way I was treated and I feel like this is something that should...
