As someone who grew up with Greeks in the same house, I lived on homemade food made by Thia's hands. This previously used to be Greek Grill (if anyone in the neighborhood remembers) and it had been closed for a long time. Now Souvlaki Spot opened and it's a win as Greek restaurants are far and few in the surrounding area. They opened up the space and gave it a makeover that's now bright and vibrant. We dined on their 3rd day of opening. We were greeted by the friendly servers and our order was taken. Unfortunately by 3pm the lamb chops were already sold out. I'm assuming they didn't account for how much business they'd be getting. We waited about 20mins and got our food. As other reviews have mentioned, we consider ourselves lucky because other tables were waiting close to 40mins. Take out line was getting frustrated. 1 table got up and left. I feel the kitchen forgot their order. At the end of our meal, the register didn't have enough bills for change so we were given tons of coins. Speed from the kitchen is definitely lacking, and everyone should know how to operate the registers. I wanted to give them benefit of doubt as they just opened. What we did try though was exceptional. We got lamb gyro, pork gyro, & pork souvlaki. The tzatziki was thick, rich and delicious and reminded me of home cooking. A lot of Greek restaurants serve a watery tzatziki so I appreciated that theirs was better. I would like to see tyropita & calamari on the menu. Overall I will try them again when they get themselves a little more organized.

I rarely write negative reviews, particularly for local restaurants, but unfortunately, I feel compelled to share my recent experiences. This isn't an isolated incident, and I know others have had similar issues with the service. My primary concern revolves around the phone service. The individual who answers is consistently defensive and argumentative, which only exacerbates customer issues rather than resolving them. Most recently, I placed an order for two Lamb and Beef Gyros through Grubhub. What I received were two containers of plain meat, without any pita bread or toppings. Upon calling to clarify, referencing my receipt, I was told I hadn't ordered pita. When I pointed out that a "gyro" is universally understood to be a sandwich, she insisted I received exactly what I ordered. I requested a return or exchange for the actual gyro sandwich, but this was denied. I offer two suggestions to the restaurant: Prioritize Customer Service: Given the restaurant's consistently low customer volume, it would think you would want to ensure every customer has a positive experience. Accurate Menu Descriptions: If the "Gyro" item doesn't include pita bread, it should be clearly labeled as "Meat Only" or removed from the menu entirely to avoid further confusion and miscommunication."

I started taking ozempic and decided to start eating healthier but unfortunately this ZIP code everything healthy is expensive but I found this place to be quite decent But now the reason I will not be returning . Two other occasions I made pick up orders and to be quite honest with you it's not the end of the world if they forgot to add something I can always put onions that I have in my refrigerator but I specifically requested Chicken Souvlaki in a pita with just tomatoes onions and some Satsuki sauce however you call it. The one thing I called and they put me on hold because I was driving on the Belt Parkway and once I go home I don't want to leave the house. So when I got there I was still on hold and he was walking around the place doing nothing the place was empty except for an older woman sitting down and some guy leaving with his takeout. Long story short I take the food I leave get home and when I open up the bag it was someone's half-eaten food that they were wrapping up to take home they switched orders with some guy that was waiting to leave because this place has no organization. I returned but I couldn't find parking so instead I sent my mother inside and she waited 20 minutes before anyone try to help her and I'm wondering what the hell is going on while I'm sitting in my car and cops are harassing me for the parking spot. I get it people are not easy to please but I'm the easiest person in the world I was going to throw the sandwich away but my mother kept insisting that I return it and sure enough the manager that doesn't speak a lick of English and kept insisting that he gave us the food there was even a woman sitting down upset that we would disturbing her it should have been handled differently I my family had a business in the community for 30 years I still service this community currently and would never treat any of my patrons so dishonestly, but I know that this place is owned by the diner in Howard Beach so we went there and spoke with the manager and he was a real gentleman and he explained to us that it is his brother-in-law and against my mother's wishes I'm writing this review not too bash them but for them to reinforce the way that customers are handled you see with so many places to go out and dine it's so easy to lose a patron for something so stupid personally I will never walk into the diner or the gyro place ever again I'd rather drive to Astoria for Greek food anyway this place doesn't serve any grilled octopus so what do I care I wish them the best but they're not worried about losing me they've got plenty of money I wish them well and hope that they...
