Rock Island and Grill Jamaican Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

I brought two plates of oxtail when I swallowed I almost choked for some reason there was plenty of tiny bones mixed in the oxtail and I should’ve known something was up because most Jamaican spots the oxtail usually the first to go or they don’t have much of it and they were closing everything else was done that but any who I will be returning to check it out I am a health inspector for Dept of Health you never know who is gonna walk into your establishment and the group of guys in there are unprofessional I won’t eat from here anymore but I will be back to inspect that oxtail yall gotta do a better a job also I was a food service...

Had to wait almost an hour for 3 small lunch plates. I specifically ordered fried chicken with steamed vegetables. But the fried chicken took over 45 minutes to cook and it still was not ready, and they gave me bagged lettuce. My coworker ordered the same with rice and peas with oxtail gravy and it was not oxtail gravy it was stew chicken gravy and the rice was still dry. We ordered fried dumplings that were listed on the menu and they advised after we went to the restaurant that it is a breakfast food. The chicken was not fried it was baked, and it did not taste good. This is not a place I would go...

I went to Rock Island for the first time last night 12/30, after reading the reviews. First, the lady behind the counter was very pleasant and professional. She greeted me and assured me she would be right with me. (I liked and appreciated that). I ordered a large chicken soup, which was very tasty, and I decided to order some fried chicken (based on the raving reviews). Let me tell you....I don't know what they seasoned that chicken with, all I know is, it was on point! I will definitely be back, as I really need to try the other foods...
