Ruby's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in New York

I was trying to be kind to this business by holding off on my review or contacting any press/media giving them chance after chance to make it right but I’ve been ignored consistently on June 18th 2024 after traveling from Massachusetts I dined here at rubys with my best friend from Finland in the picture as u can see there is a bag of ice on the table I was severely injured by an umbrella that wasn’t properly secured by the establishment staff in one of the tables next to me as I was chatting with another group of customers I was hit pretty hard in the head as it flew out from one of the tables when it was a bit windy other customers rushed to help get it off me my best friend as well as many patrons and employees witnessed this incident but failed to accommodate me, didn’t care if I was ok no manager came out when I asked to speak with one multiple times no incident report has done I didn’t wanna make this public and I didn’t wanna have to make this a legal issue but this restaurant has done nothing to help me and this is completely there mistake they have a duty to keep there guests as well as employees safe and since they haven’t answered my numerous phone calls over the past month except one time and told me to call back at a time which I did about 5 times and had no answer I’ve been suffering severe migraines since the incident has occurred and this is not ok I’d never recommend this establishment unfortunately I had a horrible experience and nobody cared not ok at all!!! A bag of ice you see on the table is all they did to account head injury after we had to ask the waitstaff multiple times this is ridiculous customer service I’ve waitresses for over 10 years and never seen another restaurant establishment handle something so...

I’ll give credit where credit is due in part to the service and the overall vibe of this place, it’s very chill, kind workers, old school boardwalk bar that really takes you back in time as u look around at their decor. With abundant seats, ceiling and oscillating fans this place was very comfortable to be in. However getting down the food, it was pretty bad. Super greasy for no reason, ordered chicken tenders, waffle fries, funnel cake and a veggie burger. Funnel cake was amazing not gonna lie. For the chicken tenders, I was not expecting enlarged Kid’s cuisine chicken breast strips dipped in the deep frier that left oil oozing with every bite, and left me to deal with severe nausea throughout the night. The waffle fries were also unnecessarily super greasy, not the worst thing from our order though.The veggie burger (tasted more like a nyc public school lunch burger) gave my boyfriend food poisoning for sure, he’s still dealing with plenty of abdominal pain and all the other unsavory symptoms that come with it. If you come here, go for the alcoholic beverages and funnel cake, that’s it. Stopped going to couple of bad customers.

Owners weak trying to please all as people pleasers backfired. I stopped going.

Update 1st June 2024. Seems owners learned that trying to keep everyone happy including bad people causes good people. So they changed their outdoors seating now with cocktail tables and limited tables with just one table in the area bad customers sat all the time so maybe the bad customers will stop going and I will start coming back giving them a new try and up their rating. Is good owners listen to good customers so that is positive.

Update 8th June 2024. Well back to sit down tables so bad customer is back. Wow I just clicked on sort by lowest and seems lots of bad reviews so I am not alone.

Update mid-July 2024 heard they jacked up the prices on July 4th. They look to make a killing with jacked up prices on memorial day and mermaid parade day and 4th july and labor day that drives customers away for the rest of the year.
