I saw that this store offered a variety of tiramisus (classic, matcha, oreo, and variious fruit flavors), and before I tried the more expensive kinds, I thought I should judge the very classic coffee flavored one first. For a decent portion at $8, the price wasn't bad.
When I started eating it, what stood out to me was that the cream was slightly sour :( which tells me they likely used cream cheese in the mix instead of mascarpone cheese, which is traditionally used. Even whipped cream would be better since it has a neutral taste rather than sour. The ladyfinger layer was replaced by a layer of sponge cake which was neutral tasting -- no coffee taste at all. Dragon Bay Bakery in 8th ave also does sponge cake instead of ladyfingers, but at least they brush coffee on it.
The cream also didn't have any sweetness too it, and I'm someone who doesn't like too much sweetness. This tiramisu mainly just tasted sour, and slightly bitter from the cocoa powder (not bad, but needs sweetness to complement it). My recommendation is to use whipped cream if mascarpone is too expensive, and make the sponge layer coffee flavored please. Maybe the fruit tiramisu will be less...
Read moreIt's a very small and simple store and wanted to try their cakes. If you are coming in as a big group, be considerate of the space. I bought two cakes on 05/25/25: Tiramisu and Strawberry fruit cakes.
Please bear in mind this is my opinion at the time I bought them not an everyday situation. I tried the Tiramisu cake and it was, surprisingly salty? Again, my assumption for Tiramisu cakes are meant to be sweet but this one was salty. I do not know if it was on purpose or by accident or anything. That Tiramisu disappointed me a bit.
Thankfully the saving grace for me is the Strawberry fruit cake. That one tasted heavenly. Not too heavily sweet, but it does taste good. That is something I wouldn't mind buying again.
I wouldn't mind dropping by again to try the other cakes and the tiramisu again. If it is made as a salty tiramisu, it may not be my cup of tea but someone may like...
Read moreI come here almost every other day just to get the pistachio jasmine or just the jasmine tea by itself, I’ve tried lots of pistachio flavored stuff like the ice cream but none of them tastes nearly as good as the pistachio jasmine. The foam is in between light and thick but what hits me is the nutty and sweet flavor that compliments the jasmine drink. Turns out the secret to the taste is a pistachio paste or gel specifically imported from China! I’ve tried at least one item from every category and I’m confident to say that they are delicious (my favorite is the mango passion fruit tiramisu) Overall the environment is kept clean and tidy not to mention the wonderful customer service. I’ll definitely continue visiting...
