Unsanitary and dingy. I’m not sure how this place is still open. I’ve been to motels and Airbnbs with better conditions than this place.
There was a mark on the side of one of the bed sheets which at first I thought was a stain. It seemed to be the fabric’s low quality after closer inspection. I ignored it until the second night when I noticed cleaning service didn’t change the sheets and just simply made the bed. I knew because that mark was there every single night. Not once was there a change of bedding during the several nights I was there.
I noticed the mini size lotion in the bathroom was previously opened because the cap was loose. The bottle was probably still semi-full from the last guest’s stay and they figured they could pass it as new. They just left it for the next guest instead of throwing it out and replacing it.
Noises and sounds travel so easily throughout this place. You can hear everything around you. I could hear the elevator opening and closing from down the hallway. I could hear the other room doors slamming shut and people speaking. The water line/pipe in the wall is so loud I thought someone was snoring loudly in the other room. Commotion and ruckus echoed at night and disrupted our sleep several times. In the early morning, I was woken up by what I assume the cleaning staff. The sound of metal clanging and trash bags being opened was hard to ignore. Our last night here was full of slamming doors and yelling in the hallway. Sounded like someone was deliberately trying to disturb everyone on the floor- not sure if it was staff or a guest.
The elevator was not working properly. After pressing the button several times, the level stays the same and the elevator has yet to move. If I were to take the stairs, I guarantee I could make it downstairs/upstairs before the elevator arrived.
There was nothing to watch on the TV either. All the channels were boring- just weather, commercials, news. If you’re going to hoard everything, you couldn’t at least provide guests with streaming?
The only positive thing I can think of is the fact that there were plenty of restaurants nearby to choose from and there was a train station close by. That aside, I can’t blame the staff for the dreadful stay. They’re either trained or ordered to avoid using the hotel’s facilities, money, and supplies more than absolutely necessary. It’s obvious that the owner is cheap and all these issues are caused by their greed. They have no concern for their guests’ experience or safety. For $250 a night, I could’ve booked...
Read moreI came here with my friend for two nights and It was a great stay! Friendly and diverse staff and the hotel and rooms are CLEAN! VERY CLEAN which is what I look for the most when booking!!! The rooms are pretty small but has everything you would need at a hotel. Our room had a queen bed that is comfortable and big enough for two people to sleep and not be cramped! I honestly had some of the best sleep in the bed because it was so comfortable, clean, and crisp. It has a small wardrobe that we used to hang our coats and a desk, two night stands, plus a keurig that we didn’t use because the hotel offers hot coffee and tea 24/7 in the lobby that was pretty tasty! I forgot to pack my soap so I was worried about what soap they had and the bathrooms soap, shampoo, and conditioner is actually pretty good! they use a natural brand called “bigelow” made in NYC (nice touch hehe) and it smells good and leaves your body squeaky clean so i was pleasantly surprised that they offer genuinely good soap considering most hotels don’t! They also offer complimentary breakfast in the AM that was all carbs (bagels, cereal, and pastries). I didn’t care for the selection but considering it’s free it’s awesome they offer anything at all! I will say they did offer bananas and yogurt though. The hotel is quiet and in a asian dominated neighborhood with many great restaurants including tea/boba spots, asian street food vendors, bakeries, hot pot, traditional asian food, and stores that offer goods including kawaii stuff, cosmetics, k beauty, stationary, souvenirs, food, and a variety of snacks that you won’t find at most places! If you stay here PLEASE check out all the places in the area! true gems! I had a pleasant experience and got my $100 deposit back the next day after checking out. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the valet parking unless you fear street parking but we parked on the street and never got a ticket or damage so i recommend if you want to save money just street park. The area is safe but there was a random fat middle aged white man in front of the hotel filming my friend and i smoking as we stood across the street but i waved then flipped him off (don’t be scared of these cowards! show then you see them!) then we did a lap around the neighborhood before coming back to be safe and by the time we came back he disappeared and we never saw him again so whatever.
Thank you for having us! I would definitely come back next time i’m in brooklyn!!
ps. the train is a abt a 4-5 min walk from the hotel for anyone wondering!...
Read moreWe just returned from a weekend trip to Brooklyn for a family wedding and stayed three nights at the Insignia Hotel. This is, I think, the fifth time we stayed there and have been very happy with our stays. The staff is so friendly and willing to be of service. I needed a refrigerator for my medication and one was delivered within five minutes of our entering the room. My wife requested an extra bath towel for her hair and was given two on the spot. The bed is always comfortable and the room is spotless. However, every time you moved , the frame made a racket like it went through a war and was falling apart. We both are still sleepers and don't move during the night so it was fine. It only made noise when we got in and out of bed. I can only imagine what the neighboring rooms wondered when they heard the noise. The parking garage is not part of the hotel but the staff is super friendly and helpful. I was cleaning the dust off my car and clearing the windshield of bugs when one of the garage staff came over with a can of tire dressing and did my tires. Every time he saw us, he came over to welcome us, shook my hand and wished us a good day. When we were packing up the car to leave, he came over with a couple bottles of water and wished us a safe trip. My only complaint is the cost for parking. When we first started staying at the Insignia, the charge was $20 a night. Now, it's $30 aa night which was fine. My complaint is an $8 per night surcharge. When a inquired, I was told because I have an SUV and it takes up more room. I said that my vehicle is built on the same platform as an Acura TLX and is not longer. If I had an Escalade or Suburban, I could understand the surcharge. Do I recommend the Insignia, definitely. Will we stay there again, most definitely. My wife is a Brooklyn girl so we return to visit family at least once a year. The Insignia Hotel meets all...
