Today, i dropped by for the special menu, (Lunch) I believe the special menu's price is $9 dollars, anyway, i like Sabor Peruano, and yes, sometimes food tastes different than other days...but to be honest, its something that doesn't bother me, WHAT REALLY DOES UPSET ME IS WHEN a WAITRESS(Tuesday, February 24, 2020) THINKS PEOPLE WHOM COME HERE FOR THE SPECIAL MUST GET LOW SERVICE, AND DISDAINFUL SERVICE!!! WHEN A WAITRESS BELIEVES THE CUSTOMERS WHOM WOULD ONLY STOP BY FOR THE SPECIAL MENU ARE LESS IMPORTANT THAN THOSE ONES ORDERING FOOD FROM THE REGULAR MENU??? IT FEELS LIKE A BITTER TASTE IN THE MOUTH!!! SABOR PERUANO IS A NEW RESTAURANT ON THIS LOCATION AND IS ALMOST EMPTY MOST OF THE TIME, WHY???YOU GUESS! I WORK IN THE RESTAURANT INDUSTRY TOO, AND I ALWAYS TRY TO PROVIDE THE BEST SERVICE POSSIBLE TO MY GUESTS WHY??? BECAUSE ITS THE JOB I CHOSE !!! NO ONE HAS COME TO ME AND PUT A GUN IN MY FACE TO MAKE ME WORK AT A RESTAURANT!!! IF YOU DONT LIKE WORKING AT A RESTAURANT, LEAVE AND LOOK FOR SOME OTHER PLACE TO WORK, IT IS SIMPLE THAN THAT!!!
ANOTHER THING, IF YOU ARE WORKING FOR A PERUVIAN RESTAURANT, VENEZUELAN, ARGENTINEAN, ITALIAN, FRENCH, ETC, YOU MUST AT LEAST TRY KNOWING SOMETHING ABOUT EVERY DISH ON THE MENU!!! IT IS IMPORTANT,
I'M NOT FRENCH BUT I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT FRENCH CULINARY!!! I M NOT ITALIAN BUT I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT ITALIAN FOOD!!! SOMETIMES WE GOT TO STOP BEING LAZY AND DO SOME RESEARCH ABOUT WHAT WE WANT TO SELL To the CUSTOMERS!!! YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE SPEAKING SPANISH PEOPLE, THERE SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM TO YOU WAITRESS, I MEAN, OUR PEOPLE, LATINOS ARE NOT SO DEMANDING AS THE ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE, SO, YOUR WAITRESS, MUST BE ON THEIR GAME, AND HAVE NO ISSUES PROVIDING GOOD SERVICE TO YOUR GUESTS AT SABOR PERUANO!!! COME ON, YOUR GUESTS ONLY WANT SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE, CAN SABOR PERUANO PROVIDE GOOD SERVICE???
ONE MORE THING, ALWAYS BRING THE BILL REGARDLESS OF THE PURCHASE VALUE!!! IT COULD BE $5, $10, $15, $20 JUST BRING IT OVER TO THE GUESTS, AND DONT SAY THINGS LIKE THIS "OH THIS PEOPLE SPEND THE VALUE OF $18 DOLLARS AND WANT ME TO BRING THE BILL??? PLEASE BE QUIET AND DO YOUR JOB!!! DONT WANT TO HEAR THAT, JUST WANT GOOD SERVICE, THAT'S ALL!!!
Also, PLEASE, YOU GOT TO BE BETTER WHEN COOKING THE ROTISSERIE CHICKEN, ITS A TRADITIONAL PERUVIAN DISH, RIGHT??? MAKE IT BETTER!!! IT'S TOO MUCH CONDIMENT ON THE CHICKEN...I BELIEVE YOU ARE COOKING YOUR CHICKEN FOR INDIAN PEOPLE CAUSE THEY LIKE LOTS OF SEASONING ON...
Read moreService was terrible. We had to ask many times for our food, which was a simple order to even be brought out. Our coffee was delivered after the food, which took more than 20 minutes to come out. And then we still had to ask for our water.
The restaurant sort of actively encourages beggers to walk table to table which just felt odd and awkward. The first of which was an old man with a little speaker who stood at the front and mumbled loudly some Spanish song and then walked table to table asking for money before leaving. A few minutes later a man and his crying little boy walked in and went table to take offering single sticks of gum and asking for money (this was heartbreaking but felt very out of place to allow this to go on repeatedly in your own restaurant to your seated diners).
I will say my pan con chicharron was quite good. However our soup came cold and we had to ask for it to go be heated more. It was very good when it came back.
Overall we felt like we were being ignored as many tables were seated, ordered after us but many received their drinks and food promptly before us. The repeated explanation was she forgot each time.
And finally they snuck in auto gratuity of 15% percent to the bill before I still tipped the customary 20%. I know that's my fault for not checking but we were just a table of two ordering a light lunch with a coffee.
I left with a negative feeling about my experience and won't be returning. I really don't like leaving negative reviews. I know how hard the restaurant business is and I'm hoping this was just an off day for them. From start to finish, though, this was a disappointing experience for a true Peruvian restaurant I was very...
Read moreNothing but old soggy spaghetti with some reheated sauce, the meat texture was gross, low quality shanky beef, not beefsteak as advertised on their menu, not the temperature I asked for either.
Overall Iâll give them a 2 out of 5 since them waitresses tried doing their best, they still forgot to get me some plastic ware and napkins since I chose to have it to take away since it was way too hot in there.
Iâd give the food 1 out of 5, not worth it at all, old reheated food is what you get for 25 bucks, pretty much false advertisement when it comes to beef cuts.
Would I go back? Absolutely not, it looks like all these sketchy areas in the northeast got the worst Peruvian food out there, had a similar experience in Paterson, NJ.
Whoever is running this restaurant is ripping people off, I get way better quality for the same price up in White Plains, NY. even in Orlando, FL for about 22 bucks you can get some nice...
