We arrived at 6 o’clock and got a table right away. However, as our server kept walking by us, we decided to ask if she was our server to which she replied I guess. When we asked questions about the menu, she was clueless; server didn’t return to ask what we would like to drink so we called her instead; she dropped off the drinks quickly but didn’t bother to ask if we were ready to order; we assumed she would come back five, ten minutes went by and we have to chase her again to place our order. Wings and two pies! Wings were very fast and delicious, wings were served by someone else, we asked if we could get a second round, which we did. 30-45 went by and the two pies didn’t arrive and neither the server came to tell us the kitchen was running slow or to ask if we would like anything else to eat. The table next to us; arrived later than us to the restaurant and were served a complete dinner way before us! Same wings and pie. Pardon us if our expectations are high we’ve been there before and the experience has been there in the past. We come from LI about 1h 50min drive. We don’t see the server and when we do she is wondering around and don’t bother to come, we have to ask the hostess and the other waitress for the manager about 3-4 times, we literally see them chatting and chatting and looking at us, and we are still there waiting like completely idiots! The manager even calls “our” waitress and she clearly is upset to which the waitress just laughed; keep in mind we still waiting for the manager, we asked again for the manager and after the 4-5x she decides to come! Defensive, loud, disrespectful explaining that her pizzas take about 25 minutes to he ready, again pardon me if I am expecting too much; but I’ve been to different Michelin start restaurants and not even there is been so long! I guess the manager was too busy texting every 3 minutes that she either missed our order or her waitress never put in the order. The manager continued to make a show! Literally a show as we are telling her the waitress has been slow, she gets offended and tell us to stop trying her employees like that!!! How?? Since when is this a crime; as I tell her to understand us she kept going to with the bs, she never apologized, she didn’t listen to us! She was so defensive and rude! Definitely not what a manager should be, she just walked away and went back to texting! Food comes 10 minutes after the whole show! Two pies messy, soggy; undercooked you can literally tell she rushed it. We then were tired and requested the check, keep in mind our waitress disappeared we have to ask two people for the check, the person who came to give us the check humiliated us telling us that it was free because of what we did in front of everyone around us, I insisted and she continued to tell us everything again in front of people. It was very disrespectful; Just because I am Latino it doesn’t mean I am there for free food or to be treated with little...
Read moreMy partner and I are visiting Brooklyn, NY and staying in Bed-Stuy. We wanted to go out for a pizza dinner tonight (Monday), googled and came across Speedy Romeo's.
Upon entering, we stood at the front waiting for someone to greet and seat us. The hostess eventually noticed us and asked the usual questions (How many? Inside or outside?) We were seated inside. All fine.
Then our server came and took our order. He wasn't mean but there were no pleasantries from him at all -- not even a glimpse of a welcoming smile. For the whole experience, he indeed did his job but nothing 'nice' accompanied his service. We had the chicken wings, kale salad and king salami pizza. The food was nice.
For dessert, we decided to go for the gelato to share. Our server asked if we wanted 1 or 3 scoops. We asked for 2 but he said we could only have 1 or 3 without any reason why. We ordered 2 scoops of vanilla choc chip and 1 scoop of banana choc chip. He then brought out 2 scoops in one bowl and 1 scoop in a different bowl. Still, I have no idea why we couldn't simply get 2 scoops of gelato.
When we asked for the bill/check, another guy came to our table holding the EFTPOS machine toward us and quoted the total. We asked him if we could get an itemised bill in order to see that everything was correct. His facial expression was that it was a bother to get us an itemised bill. Nevertheless, he retrieved the bill and brought it back to us and stood there holding up the EFTPOS machine towards us while we look over the bill. It was a little awkward to say the least. My partner gave his credit card, typed in the necessary information and was faced with a pre-selected minimum of a 20% tip with two higher percentage options. Having the server stand right over us with the machine in hand when we had to quickly view the bill, organise payment and 'choose' the tip was intimidating. After payment, he simply turned and walked away. There was no 'thank you' or even a smile from him even after we both said thank you to him. It seemed as though we had offended him by wanting to see the itemised bill.
The only interest we got regarding our satisfaction with the meal was when our server asked, "Did everything come out okay?" That was it. During our visit, no-one ever said hello, thanks for coming or I hope you enjoyed your meal. We departed the restaurant with the impression that we had somehow interrupted their evening. Overall, it wasn't a...
Read moreThis is definitely a nice place in Brooklyn-it seems like it has been around for a while and it has a nice decor...brick walls, wooden seats, but dim lighting making it a warm atmosphere.
It is a little pricey, but if you go out on a couple's date and get one pizza each, you should expect to spend around 30 dollars, as long as you only get water to drink. And, as far as the food goes (I've only tried their pizza), it was absolutely fantastic. Very much enjoyed it and might go back, but only for take out.
Although the food was good, the experience was overall underwhelming...and that's a big part of the going out date...you want an overall good experience. We were sat quickly, which we were surprised about, but so pleased. Our waitress came quickly, which was nice. However, a family soon came in that we could tell was very friendly with the staff, and they essentially let their kids run wild around the store. They were sitting right next to our table, and the kids were screaming, running around, the employees were coming over to say hello, and even the dad would pick up his young (3yrs old probably), take him over to the bar area, and said loudly, "anybody looking for some more toppings you can put in the oven?!"
It was so loud, so disruptive, and, quite frankly, very rude...not only on the part of the parents that were quite fine with it going on (the mom was on her phone, basically not caring what was going on), but even the employees seemed to encourage it, which is unforgettable and a huge disservice to the customers. My wife and I were hoping for a better experience, and the fact that this one family was given so much attention and allowed to be so disruptive was so frustrating. It was as if the place was the family's second home and we were invading THEIR space.
I doubt I will go back, maybe give them another shot, but it seems that the employees there lack the attention and concentration on their guests overall experience...or...my wife and I just don't belong there, and the place is really only for people that know the company or people that are long time...
