Musication — Local services in New York

We had private piano lessons in our home by one of Jeremy's Musication teacher. I expressed my dissatisfaction that my child wasn't enjoying and wasn't progressing. For the amount of money and energy, I expected much higher caliber. The lessons were erratic, and never the same. There was no flow or expected songs to play. After I spoke w the owner and the teacher, there was no change. I was assured she would begin to work on a song for the recital which would create some fun and consistency. At the last minute the teacher changed the song after only practicing it for a week - maybe two. When I again expressed my upset, the teacher gave me justification about their "curriculum" (which I saw no steady curriculum), and the worst part.... the teacher critiqued my 6 year old for being stiff, (shoulders and hands), and slumping!! She is a 6 year old child! This was one of my worst young child experiences for my daughter. While I am sure he has other teachers that may have more knowledge around cognitive development or just basic knowledge about teaching kids-- the one I had did not. I am very disappointed on many weeks...

We LOVE Musication! My 10 year old daughter has studied piano with the amazing Rosie for several years and last year, my 5 year son started taking lessons with Rosie, too. She is magic! She teaches excellent skills, but even more importantly, she adapts her teaching to the needs of each kid, and she always makes music fun and joyful! We love the consistency of in-home lessons every week, and we love the regular recital opportunities that Musication offers.

When our kids were toddlers, they both enjoyed Musication summer camps. Each day they came home excited about music from around the world. Live musicians played music every day and they learned beautiful songs, made functional instruments from everyday household items, and played outdoors. The kids came home with a cd/playlist, so we could listen together to the music they heard during the day. It was really special.

Our kids have been taking private piano lessons from Jeremy for over 5 years! Since we met Jeremy as the (amazing) music teacher at our local nursery school we knew he would be patient and great with kids. What we couldn’t have anticipated is how much he would instill a love of not just piano but music and musical exploration in our kids. Our son now plays the clarinet at school and I know his weekly lessons with jeremy over the years have helped to develop both an ear for and a love of MUSIC. We have hosted a few recitals at our home and are consistently impressed with all of Jeremy’s students and also the students of the other musication teachers.
