TriniJam Bk Roti Bar & Grill — Restaurant in New York

I went to Trinijambk with my friend and my mom we were extremely happy and interested to eat From Trini BK , as a former Trini myself. It’s always wonderful to eat and experience my culture. However my experience left a bad taste in my mouth . Before arriving my mom had made sure to call to find out if we’d need reservations, the lady on the phone insured her that if we arrived from 7:30-8:00 we’d be fine and that we didn’t need reservations . Now as we are seated the waiter approach’s to take our order we asked him for a little more time , as we where still looking at the menu. As doing that another worker ( not sure if he was the Manager or owner or just another worker ) approach’s us and begins to explain that food is running out. He continues to tell us that the restaurant runs strictly on reservations. Now I’m extremely confused and begin to ask how if the lady on the phone insured that we didn’t need one . This worker became very condescending and just repeated the same information over and over , while giving us no clear answers. HOWEVER NO WHERE ON THEIR INSTAGRAM NOR YELP SAYS YOU NEED RESERVATIONS! So my mom shows the worker their Instagram and just asks where on their page says that “you have to call for reservations” .He Says “ we’ve been like this for a year now “ at this point we are all turned off and completely confused with his confusing information. The communication is terrible! , and to make to make matters even better as we decided to leave he acted as tho he could’ve cared any less . AS HE STILL CONTINUED TO SEAT PEOPE AS WE LEFT!!!!!! So turned off and completely disgusted in how they treat...

This place is okay. The last time my bestie and I went, We ended up waited over an hour for avocado salads, Mac pie, and curry goat. We called ahead of time asking for avocado salads and a made reservation. 🤦🏾‍♀️ They opened late so things weren't ready yet but why have us wait over an hour? But one bad day doesn't mean it's a bad place. The drinks are more so Manhattan prices I want to believe. Ranging from $14 and up. I like the passion fruit margarita and the henny colada. I might go back again for the avocado salad but having us wait over an hour for food definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

Update: Went today around 2 PM (07.29.22) and still... CANNOT GET AN AVOCADO SALAD. This is last summer all over again. I wasn't very happy, that was the only item on the menu Im excited about. And like everything else, prices have raised. I really liked our waitress and we soon became the only people at the restaurant so it was pretty chilled. But once again, it's upsetting that something is on the menu and it isn't available after the restaurant has been opened for about 1.5 hours.

And if you pay with credit card there is charge so I would use debit or cash. If you're using cash, bring more than you normally would. The prices tend to rack up quickly if you're not careful. For two people, I ended up spending little more than $150 dollars not including tip. We got wings, mac n cheese, curry goat meal, shrimp pasta, veggies and plantains sude orders, and 4 drinks (Bob Marley, henny colada...

I would like to start this off with an Absolutely Must have. I was in dire Need of some roti skin, including famished for I hadn’t eaten all day. When I finally decided to let it go on this rainy day, we drove ( literally) right on the corner and came to a halt. I seen this restaurant many times, for my family had a restaurant not to far from them, though never experienced the opportunity to stop in. They appeared as if they just opened preparing for the day and I was immediately greeted when I stepped in, from a women who was so pleasantly sweet. I inquired for what I wanted,( roti skin with chickpeas and 1 without. she smiled and said buss up shot , I replied you learn something everyday. The young Woman ( can’t recall her name), went in the kitchen area and a gentleman, I’m assuming was the owner asked if I was being assisted as he placed tables in it’s position. I replied yes, informed him the young woman was assisting me, including how I’ve been craving roti for some time and it’s even lovelier that this is a restaurant that caters to it. Politeness is a rare find, and that they were. I decided to add two more buss up shots to my order, for I hadn’t a clue when I would revisit the area. They were ABSOLUTELY pleasing to my taste buds. I have a distinctive pallet. I also put 2 away in the freezer and when defrost, it did not comprise the integrity of the taste nor texture. Thankful to the young woman and gentleman that was just overall darling. Thee buss up shots...
