UPDATE: I got in touch with the owner of Villaggio's - Joe - through Valpak. Joe profusely apologized and told me this was an atypical experience and he would call a meeting with his entire kitchen staff. I was very satisfied with his response and don't expect this to happen again.
Issue:
I called in an order for pickup at 5:05PM 11/18 - four entrees - eggplant parm, (2) veal parms, and a shrimp francese. I came by at 6:00PM to pick up the order, which was ready on the pizza counter. I drove home (to Bayside about 10-15 minutes away). Got home, and realized that the shrimp francese was not in our bags. Called Villaggio's back. Nicole (I think?) apologized and said they'd remake the food if we came by again and picked it up. Came by again and picked it up around 6:40PM. Asked to speak to a manager to ask the reason the to-go orders aren't being double checked, especially for a large order. Nicole informed me Joe (the manager) was not available until 8:30PM and she said she yelled at the kitchen staff. OK with me -- didn't want to make a scene for a minor issue. Drove home with the shrimp francese. The shrimp was cool / room temperature when I got home. I can only fathom that instead of re-making the food, the kitchen forgot to pack the order, left it on the counter somewhere, then when I came back they just repacked it for me -- hence it was basically sitting out on the counter for an hour. As much as I've previously enjoyed Villaggio's food, this was...
Read moreMy friend and I came here since they had gluten free pasta to satisfy my friend’s dietary restrictions. I had the rigatoni special in a tomato sauce with sausage and artichoke. It was al dente and delicious. Artichokes were perfectly tender and sausage had a pleasant spice combination. Yelp had an offer for a free glass of house wine with check-in. The red is a blend on the fruiter side that definitely would be good for a sangria. Although we asked what type of wine it was and the answer that we got was regular red wine, so still a mystery, but guessing I’d say a Shiraz and Pinot Noir blend. Service was good where the staff was attentive, but not intrusive. There is a party room that looks very Instagramable with greenery lined walls, red floral arrangements intertwined with lights and neon signs. This place was on the upside app, so we got a small discount...
Read moreThe food and service were excellent I can’t complain nothing about it! But one thing I do want to mention is that at first my sister and I didn’t know who our server was. This older gentleman asked me if I was ready to order out of no where which I thought it was just the owner or manager checking up on us, which is a good thing. But then I soon realized that he was our server because he kept checking up on us and wanted to take our order, So I was a bit confused. I would really appreciate next time if he would introduce himself to us. But everything else was good, he was very friendly and attentive and the food...
