Il Nocello Ristorante Italiano — Restaurant in New York

I am surprised at the amount of good reviews that this restaurant has. I will not let emotion partake into this review but will critique with delicacy. There are no take aways from the food, authentic to say the least. However, my biggest take away from this has to be the experience that ‘Nocello Ristorante Italiano’ has provided. It has left my family and I speechless as we have been what they call “ blotted out”. It was evident that this restaurant appeals to the liking of typical customers but surely does no effort to welcome new ones. From getting seated last, after an absurd wait time, to seeing customers walk in to the liking of the restaurant workers and seated before us. Surely that wasn’t the only thing, we had to request constant service, having to get up from our chair to gain the attention of a worker who had been deliberately holding conversations with customers for long periods of time (to your surprise, it was with the customers that came in after us and seated before us). Waiting long periods of time for the simplicity of a glass of water to getting our orders taken at the very end, and yes the customers that arrived after us got their order first. Unfortunately for my family and myself that experience happened in July of 2023 and for unforeseen circumstances this review was never written at the time of. However, the occurrence of this review now is because of the, once again, terrible customer service that this restaurant has provided. I was trying to call over the phone for a pick up order and was given no sort of courtesy over the phone as this female employee spoke patronizing me over the phone. This employee not only did that in a very condescending way but was not providing me with information on dishes that they should be aware of, with something as simple as “ how many mozzarella sticks are in one order?” and telling me that I have to wait a couple minutes to obtain an answer. ‘ Nocello Ristorante Italiano’ could potentially be the closest thing to authentic italian food, equally so, it could also be an historial...

June 1, 2023 I must update my review because while the food is still very good the service has gone way down. The waiters don't seem to care if you are happy or not.. this last time there wete deliveries coming in through the dining room the entire time we were eating as well as repair people in the kitchen. There's only one restroom and all these delivery people and workmen were using it while paying customers had to wait.. that is NOT hygienic or acceptable. Some people get breadsticks we never do. When the owner is there he's friendly to some but ignores us. While I do like the food I may not go back after this. Parking is difficult and expensiveon the street with meters and after months of going at least twice a month a cappuccinoon the house would be nice or even a smile!!!

The food here is exceptional. You can cut the veal with a fork. Seafood is fresh and prepared perfectly. Best lobster ravioli I have had in years. Delicious sauces. Excellent choice of wines, and desserts. Good service, well lit and clean spacious...

I am local to this restaurant however I only visited here recently. Can’t really say why because I heard many good things about it

We were seated promptly and on time with our reservation. Happy about this because I don’t like waiting. Lol.

The server immediately brought water and asked if we wanted any beverages. No gap in time waiting.

I had a shrimp dish. Very good. Portion was nice as well.

The place was full. Many regular customers who the staff knew by name. This impressed me because loyalty is a thing today. I could see how positively the customers responded to being known. It made them feel important. A good thing in business.

I will go back again. A great place to run over for a quick dinner when you don’t feel like cooking. All around...
