Yardies Jerk - Saint Albans — Restaurant in New York

I've been a regular patron at Yardies for well over 7 years. Today is Feb 18, 2023 and this is the second time in about 10 days that I've visted this establishment and these past two visits blew my mind. The service was nothing less than professional, courteous, super pleasant, inviting, delightful and FAST......... completely different from most of (not all), but most of the past 5+ years visits. What is noticed different in these past two visits is the all male staff. The nice man that took my order was attentive energetic, very articulate, interactive, very precise, helpful, as well as patient taking the order even making suggestions on the order. He and the other gentlemen were quick, organized and professional in getting the order ready. I was pleasantly surprised. As two customers who were before me received their order and were leaving, I just had to share my pleasant observation with them and to my surprise the female said she was thinking the exact same thing. She said today was the best service she received and we both had to agree that most of the unpleasant past visits were (sad to say) from most of the female staff. Females, we must do better with attitudes when providing services to others ESPECIALLY persons of your same race and especially same gender! Good, but I'll try something else next time. I was looking for something on Uber Eats and this sounded good. Review I saw were mixed, but thought I would try it. Well, it says Uber Eats on their facebook page, but I could not get Uber Eats to work... said they don't deliver to my location (about 5 miles away). So went with Doordash instead.

More importantly, the food. Obviously I wasn't expecting as much since this is takeout. So it wasn't as hot obviously. Jerk chicken patty was tasty and a different flavour than the usual spicy beef I get elsewhere. Jerk pork was tender, but needed more spice. The BBQ sauce they included was helpful in that department. Unfortunately, half of the meat was fat. Peas and rice were good enough. I also tried Jamaican fruitcake, which was good sort of a light fruitcake with a pink fruity icing on top. Nice end to a meal.

There are no restaurants near my hotel, so I was bound and determined I was going to get Jamaican food while staying in Jamaica, NY. Despite the battle to find someone who delivered at least I finally got what I wanted. Just my final recommendation is Yardies is worth a try for delivery, but if I can next time I'll cab it somewhere else to get...

I’ve passed this store a million times and never paid them any mind! Omg... i Ordered the food on uber eats due to the high volume great reviews. First of all, you will never find a Jamaican restaurant opened for 24 hrs. EVER! So take advantage! I ordered the jerk chicken patty which was one of the best I’ve ever had. I personally love my food with a kick and this was done just right. The staff held the last patty one the side for me after i called and requested an order 💞 super sweet and considerate people that even called me by name after the 10th call in a row lol. They never seemed impatient with me although my order took over an hour to get settled due to indecisiveness and Uber eats complications. Maybe they could tell I’m Jamaican but hey! I also plan on having my mother stop by the restaurant to try the famous festival and jerk chicken tomorrow so I’ll keep you posted! Overall, SO FAR, TOOOO GOOD!...
