After many many years it's the only restraunt that never closed at the Newington mall. (and most malls) It's staple mall food I remember from when I was kid. Inexpensive teriyaki chicken which I imagine is many Americans first taste of Japanese food. Cash only huge portions! They may have shrunk the box but they still pack it full. Easily 2 maybe 3 meals for me. For only like $25 for 2 people can't beat the price either. Yep that's chicken and beef in my photo, with noodles. An unlisted menu item from the secret special menu. Second photo is Shrimp with extra shrimp 🦐🍤 Tried the newer offered appitizers, tasted dried out, small, and unflavorful. Stick to the basics. Rice (or noodles), vegetable (yes or no they will ask), and meat choice (or combo). Enjoy! I agree with what some other comments said. The sauce was stronger before. Maybe less sugar or msg, or a diluted watered down version. Still 5 stars! Disappinting the mall is closing and being replaced. I don't think they are opening another location so get it while you can.

Mall chicken just hits different. I had spring rolls also but they were so good I couldn't get a picture. This delicious plate of food has got to be the best value around and has been since I was in highschool. My son and I split the #1 Teriyaki Chicken, vegetables and noodles and it is still the most delicious meal in all of the mall. The prices are very reasonable for the portions and it's all cooked fresh. The staff are always so friendly! Cash only

Reasonable prices for good food. I had the beef 🍖 teriyaki with vegetables. I received a good portion and it tasted pretty good. Service was friendly. Cash only. Drinks are sold including hot green tea. You can eat at the mall. Take out available. If you're looking for affordable Japanese food, I would recommend Sarku.

I've been coming here since their name was sakkio japan and has since changed to Sarku Japan, but the food and I'm pretty sure the owners have remained the same. I'm never gonna complain about this food. I love it. I even go out of my way at least once a month to get some. It's simply made but always delicious. It's a CASH ONLY place, so be mindful of that if you're looking to buy. It's worth it. The only bummer is I know one day this business will close, and that will be a sad day for me and the family because we all love the food here. So enjoy it while you can I know I have, and I will continue till the...

I've been coming to Sarku Japan since my grandparents were alive and I was a child. It has always and will always hold a special place in my heart. I have heard the owner plans to retire when the Mall is demolished and I wish him the most blessed retirement, but will stay hopeful his retirement consists of opening a new restaurant maybe at the new waterfront location in Dover.....??? I cant think of a better way to spend retirement??. So many wonderful memories with my family that will always be cherished.

THANK YOU for everything...
