Handel's Homemade Ice Cream Newport Beach — Restaurant in Newport Beach

I was really excited to try this community staple, the flavors I picked spoketi me in different ways and I was looking forward to seeing their take on it. The delivery was fine, but from the pictures I anticipated beautiful and appropriate packaging for ice cream, instead what i received was a cheap plastic container (like the ones the come with deli sandwich at the gas station) with four scoops of ice cream (barely) inside. I forgave the creamy mess in the bag and chalked it up to local quirkiness, the taste was reallyall that mattered...and it did! Of my four hand-picked flavors, one was incorrect, insteadof the very exciting strawberry oreo i received regular oreo which tasted delicious, but was not what ihad psyched myself for. The Graham Cracker flavor tasted just right and was a joy to have, except for thw bits in the ice cream that make it a biycrunchy but also a bit chewy, perhaps a little less of that? As a standard measure of success i also ordered simple chocolate ice cream, in my opinion, if you can ace that flavor, then you're on track to success. Unfortunately it was not the case here, it ddnt taste right and it wasnti creamy and voluptuous or sweet enough. To close i had another classic: birthday cake. This last one deserves special mention because its appearance was so deformed and... blue, that it looked more like someone had killed the Cookie Monster and hid the body in my vanilla ice cream. The taste was a little fragrant, too far probably because of all that unnecessary blue dye. I will try anything twice, as they say, so hopefully by the next time i order, they'll have been able to figure out some of the stuff they have only been open...

Very bad store who is the manager..!!!

When picking up orders from the ice cream shop, drivers are directed to use a separate window specifically designated for orders to be taken outside. However, every time I approach this pickup window, I encounter a frustrating issue: the shop’s staff completely ignores us. It’s as if they are intentionally disregarding the fact that drivers are waiting there for their orders.

Rather than offering a quick acknowledgment or providing a basic update on wait times, the employees consistently leave us standing there without any response, even when we try to get their attention. This lack of communication and customer service is not only unprofessional but also impacts the efficiency of our delivery process. In situations where time is crucial, it’s disappointing to see the staff acting indifferent toward drivers who are there to facilitate their business by transporting their orders to customers.

A simple acknowledgment or a more organized system for handling driver pickups would make a huge difference. I hope the management addresses this issue promptly, as it is affecting the overall experience for those of us in the...

Our family generally loves our Handel’s desserts. We have been to several of their locations and so decided to give this location a try as it is closer to us.

We got a few different flavors of ice cream and we loved it. Absolutely nothing to complain about. They offer a variety of sizes for different price points. We generally get the smallest size (since we can try several flavors that way) and even that’s really not small - there is enough for everyone. My favorite has always been the Dark Cherry which was fantastic as usual - but have to say the Key Lime is almost as good! Tried a couple of others as well and they were generally very good too. They also appear to have treats for the pets, but we haven’t tried it with ours lest they get addicted!!

This specific location is great also because it’s right across from the beach. There were several groups of beach goers lined up ahead of us to order but things moved along very efficiently. I highly recommend Handel’s ice cream and this location is great if you want to sit at the beach eating...
