This place is quickly becoming a favorite spot! Great food, service, prices and a cool vibe. Last minute birthday breakfast for my hubby. We arrived shortly after 10am when they opened and the bar was packed. Probably a good thing because there ended up being 8 of us! Got a nice table in the back with room to grow if we needed it. $12 bottomless mimosas!?! Heck ya! Boys got blood marys and they were decent! I ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich but the Huevos rancheros that was on special caught everyone’s eye. Hubby wanted steak & eggs for his birthday so he was happy. Also tried the soup of the day which was cream of potato. It lacked a bit of flavor so we definitely loaded it with Tabasco. Our server, Ry, was awesome. Super friendly and personable. Definitely a local spot but we’re gonna squeeze ourselves into becoming frequent fliers here!

As hounds who loves nothing more than a good outing to The Alley in Newport Beach, we can confidently bark about the pawsome experience it offers. The Pups on the Patio menu is like a smorgasbord of tail-wagging delights, with treats and snacks that cater to both human and canine palates. Woof!!! But what truly sets this place apart is the exceptional service. The servers, manager, and owner are like a pack of devoted pals, always ready with a scratch behind the ears or a hearty belly rub. It’s a place where dogs like us feel not just welcomed, but truly cherished. A woof-worthy experience, indeed!

Yummmmmm!!!! Food - DELICIOUS!!! Asparagus soup is AMAZING!!! Burgers are soooo tasty, artichoke is perfection 👌 prime Rib, mac&cheese, Salads, honestly just about everything. Staff is always friendly & attentive, mellow but fun place if you're just drinking, outdoor patio awesome with pups, enclosed patio awesome to watch sports. They always have weekly specials too! An absolute win of a spot!

With a location on the corner to pch and where the iconic balboa peninsula begins, the Alley is on your way out or on your way home if you are staying anywhere near the Newport Beach neighborhoods. Great local bar with lots of history. The Older local Newport senior aged couples go daily for dinner and drinks daily at 5pm. Around 9-10 pm, the local Lush crowd is there tieing one on until 2am. The bar tenders are the best in town and the drinks are deep pours, example a screw driver is 98% titos organic vodka with a half splash of fresh OJ for 7-8$... local crowd tends to congregate here, basicly 7 days a week and there's folks of all ages hanging around because the place has been there so long that it just becomes habit forming for all that have ever made it their local spot, spanning 3 almost 4 generations. Great food and comfortable booths. They serve food until 10 pm. The place is dark, you wouldn't be able to ever see if they actually vacuumed the floors after closing, but it doesn't much matter because the food is a few cuts above the likes of say a Yard House or a TGIF and with a much more local and authentic atmosphere then the franchised chain bar restaraunts. If you are visiting and you like a good dive bar, The Alley is...

I ordered the prime rib sandwich and honestly it was a big letdown. I was expecting a real sliced prime rib sandwich, but it ended up being just a French dip. The steak was bland with zero flavor. The bread was toasted nicely, but once it hit the plate the bottom got soggy and the whole sandwich fell apart. I had to add a ton of salt and pepper just to make it edible, and it still wasn’t right. If they actually served true sliced prime rib on bread, that would be awesome.

I asked about prime rib, but was told it’s only available at dinner — which doesn’t make sense to me. If it’s in the kitchen, why not serve it?

On the positive side, the steak and eggs were really good, and the service was solid.

One more thing: the table I got sat at was the first booth right by the host stand, and it was terrible. There’s a pillar right there, super cramped, and every single person walking to the dining room has to pass by. Constant foot traffic, super inconvenient — honestly that table shouldn’t even be sat unless it’s absolutely the last option.

I’d give this place another shot, but I’d stick to the steak and eggs and make sure to request a...
