Debbie's Drive Inn — Restaurant in Newport

We’re always looking for local diners and eateries rather than the corporate chain places and this one nailed it! It was pretty busy when we pulled up but the server (carhop?) came and took our order right away. We noticed that meals would be brought out to cars and they would leave, and a new car would almost instantly take its place, some of them having called their order in and getting it brought out to them immediately. I was certain they had to be noting the vehicle on the ticket or something so when my meal was brought out I asked, I was surprised to learn that no, they don’t write your vehicle on the ticket. They do it all by memory! Every. Single. Vehicle that came up and ordered, they just remembered which one ordered what. It’s not like guests sitting at stationary tables in a standard restaurant. The gray Camry left and now a maroon Mazda was in its place, then the Hyundai was replaced by a Prius etc etc. but each one got their order. It was pretty impressive to watch! Finally, the bacon double cheeseburger, chicken strips, and french fries were definitely the local diner style food we had been looking for. Will certainly eat here again the next time we’re...

Edit.. I can't understand why half the customers park like retards here, for some reason they block the entire lot instead of pulling forward to the restaurant, they stay 5 to 10 feet from the building...... Debbie's is a hit or miss. Sometimes you can order and get your food in a few minutes,but most times, especially if there are more then a few cars it could take 20 minutes. I recommend the BBQ sandwich,it's always been consistent and good ...,.. Tip if you have never been here,they take your order from your car,don't get out and go to the window,they don't take orders there . Be sure to park by the menu board,or you will have to get out to get close and see it . Ice cream products are ok, but when you order Sunday type product,it just comes in a big Styrofoam cup,not an actual Sunday container,and if your not super careful it will spill all over your car and lap. Shakes are pretty good, made with real ice cream,not like the disgusting Sonic across the street with...

There's 1 waitress that is rude and I've not been going there as much, not sure what her name is because of no name tags.. Called and Lady asked if I could call back in 15min since their waitress wasn't there yet, I waited 30min, when I tried calling back someone answered, then it sounded like they muted the phone and after coming back a couple of times it sounded they throwed the phone or dropped it but wouldn't come back to it. So I hung up the phone went in a store and I called again after I got back in my car. A nice lady answered the phone and I called my food in this morning and asked if they had coffee and the very nice lady that took my order said they did, curb person brings my food and rudely tells me the price and said we didn't have any coffee after the other lady saying they did.. Curb person has been working there for a few years and this isn't the first time I've had a run in with her rudeness.. My total was $17 and NO I did not give...
