Osaka Japanese Steak & Lobster house — Restaurant in Newport

Brace yourselves! I’ve never thought this was the greatest choice for dinner, especially after being shut down and open repeatedly over the past 15 years. But tonight I went with family (not my choice) but I hadn’t ate there since it had re opened. I ordered steak, rice, noodles and a spicy tuna roll. She brought my sushi out (spicy tuna) and I thought maybe she mistakenly gave me someone else’s, so I asked her what it was and she said spicy tuna roll - I thanked her and go on to try it, barley able to because it just looked horrendous. I would’ve been extremely ashamed to bring that out to a table if I were the server. Anyway, as im looking 2 pieces of the sushi is missing all the pieces (avocado, tuna mainly) it was just rice wrapped with “seaweed”?? It sounds petty but sushi is expensive as it is, so if I’m paying $14 I expect to get the main ingredient atleast. As for the rest of the sushi it was canned tuna and had ZERO spice in it and you could tell the tuna had come straight out of a can and hasn’t been seasoned with anything. The people at my table could smell the tuna and if you eat spicy tuna rolls you know that’s a red flag, so when she comes back I was extremely polite, being a server in the past myself I know things can be out of your control and would never treat a server with disrespect. I very nicely just said everything I just typed above regarding my complaint about the sushi and told her she could take the plate back with her (because she was cleaning off our table getting ready for the main course to come out) and she says “I’ll go get him I’ll be right back.” Well she comes back and says “ he said he will take it back but you are never allowed to order sushi here again” UM 😐 I was dumbfounded. I’ve never sent a single thing back from here and never complained the few times I have been here. I was so confused I asked her again, and again she said “he banned you from ordering sushi from here U can not order sushi here again he will not make sushi for you again” WHAT😵‍💫🤯🤯 completely unprofessional and unacceptable to find out it was the owner who told her to tell me that. I would be mortified if someone sent a plate of food out to a paying customer that looked and smelled like that sushi tonight. Even more disgusting the owner said I’m BANNED from ever eating sushi there again. So in other words DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE - go to ATAKO in Newport beside game stop!!!! My family and I was in here about 3:30 maybe 4 o'clock Aug 5th 2017. And our waitress this blonde teenager for 1 ignored me when I came in to ask about the grills not once but twice I had to ask someone else who was busy at the time of we can use them. 2 when we was seated she took our drink orders and we told her what we wanted to eat (been in there enough we get what we like). She brought my dad's drink and step mothers drinks out 1st but her hands were on the rims of the cups (step mother never took a sip of her drink) then she brought my little brothers and mine out (again by the rims). 3 brought salads...5 mins later soup...10 mins later my father's egg roll that he asked for (cooked burnt the egg roll) 4 NEVSR PER BUSTED OUR TABLE. 5 the cook came out and my step mother can not I repeat CAN NOT have seafood. He burnt the rice, the noodles, and after we told not only the waitress but a 2nd cook that they can not fix the seafood until she gets her rice and noodles the cook still tried to fix it all at once. Not only did I yell stop but so did she (luckly he didn't fix it all at once) 6 the cook under cooked the shrimp (I am pregent and can eat shrimp just not a lot of it) 7 the waitress walks by our table 7 to 8 times never once refills my drink (yes she looked right at us and ignored us again) BTW table still never per busted we still have all of our salad bowls and soup bowls on the table. 8 our waitress looks at me and then looks at my cup and looks at me again and walks out the door my step mother had to ask another waitress to refill my drink. 9 never came to check on us not once. 10 I had to ask for boxes for our table but the table behind us for boxes WHEN THEY GOT THEIR FOOD. Another table had to complain to the waitress about the wait on their food. One table of 2 young guys got drinks food and she never ignored them. 11 when my father went up to pay the bill our waitress STILL IGNORED HIM. She acted like we was not important at all. Needless to say we did not tip. I really dont know where they are finding these incompetent workers but the owner should really watch who he/she hires...

We have always had good service here in the past but our last recent visit resulted in one of our worst restaurant experiences. When we were seated and were looking at the menu, we noticed it appeared some of the prices had increased. We made mention of this to our waitress and she even mentioned that we weren't the only ones to have said this. She brought our drinks and then we ended up placing our orders, deciding we would still eat here despite the rise in prices as we were all hungry. We were patiently waiting for our food when a gentleman from the back, who I presume is the owner, came out to our table with 2 menus and decided to throw them down on the table and preceded to tell me that if I could prove the prices had went up that he would give me $2,000. First off, what kind of owner would even suggest something such as this. Second, I told him I don't have a menu from the last time we ate here so I couldn't show him anything. We had already decided to eat there so there wasn't an issue. He kept on with how his prices haven't changed in 10 years, which obviously some had from the current menu as some of the prices had white out over the originals and new prices written over top. I want to point out that we never asked to see a manager/owner so he came out at his leisure and ended up causing an unnecessary scene. We decided at that point to just leave as we weren't going to stay and eat where the manager/owner was trying to unnecessarily berating us. I said we will pay for our drinks and when I went up to the counter to pay for the drinks he told us don't worry about it to just leave. Needless to say, we will not set foot...
