Blue Ribbon BBQ has been a go-to for us over the years, and for good reason—it’s become an institution in the Boston area, and when it comes to barbecue, nothing else quite stacks up. If you’re looking for a takeout option, the 3-meat combo with two sides is an absolute winner, perfect for sharing with someone and an incredible value for the quality. Starting with the sides: the coleslaw is exactly what you’d want—crunchy, not overly creamy, with just the right amount of seasoning. It’s refreshing and adds a nice balance to the richness of the meat. Then there are the mashed potatoes with gravy, which might actually exceed any expectations you have. Think rich, buttery, smooth potatoes paired with a velvety gravy that’s just out of this world. As for the meat, the brisket is a standout. It’s tender with beautifully crisp smoke lines and just the right amount of fat, practically begging to be dunked in the golden barbecue sauce. Then there’s the pulled pork, Melissa’s absolute favorite. Smoky, juicy, and perfect with any sauce you choose, but especially good with the hot sauce for that extra kick. The cornbread is simple and serviceable—crumbly and light, exactly what you’d expect as a sidekick to all the main players. Don’t sleep in the specials or the wraps. The Buffalo chicken wrap and the burrito really hit the spot if you’re looking for something you can eat on the go! All in all, Blue Ribbon BBQ has something truly special. It’s a place that makes you want to come back time and again, knowing every bite will live up to the memory of the last.

I’m putting my Texan card on the table. I wasn’t expecting Pit Room or Franklin’s-level quality, but had hoped it would be better than Famous Dave’s; it was, only slightly. Positive first: friendly folks, pleasant atmosphere, and more than ample portions (seriously, you can feed two on one meal). They are also generous with price. Up the quality, up the price and lower the portion. And…… let’s start with brisket 101, smoke. That was lacking. In fact, I put my nose to the air while approaching the restaurant sniffing for that ever-loving smell of mesquite and hickory. Not even post oak. It was not in the air; perhaps they smoke off site. If so, you need more wood! Next, no bark on the meat and it is void of that tell tale sign of black pepper and salt. I watched a full packer brought to the carving table. It wasn’t appropriately trimmed and shaped pre-smoke. Let aerodynamics be your friend. I had asked for moist at the register. Perhaps that was simply a north-south translation error. Moist in BBQ joints means the point, not the flat. They gave me all flat. That would be fine I suppose, except it was pretty evident the cut is USDA Choice. It makes the meat cost effective, but at the sacrifice of fat. The meat was over cooked. It should pull apart, not fall apart. It should also stand on its own without sauce. Sides: great potato salad. 8 out of 10. Slaw wasn’t worth a second bite and the corn bread could break windows if thrown. Sweet tea was pleasantly not too sweet. Sauce was fine. Nothing noteworthy.

I booked them for catering a month before a company meeting with 100 employees. The process to set up, order, and process payment was easy and went perfectly. The day of the event comes and we scheduled a 4PM delivery. 4pm comes and goes and no ones there. I call and they say the driver has a 15 minute window to show but they’d contact the driver to get an update. 4:30 comes and no one called me back and no one is there with the food. I call back and they say there was a switch with the driver assignments and they have no idea who the driver assigned to our order is. At this point, I have around 80-100 people staring at me wondering if they’re having dinner. I tell them this and they said they need to wait until they get in touch with the driving manager to figure out what’s going on. I tell them I cannot wait, I need to find an alternative because clearly no ones coming. The woman on the phone then proceeded to yell at me and tell me that she understands but there’s nothing she can do. I call the driving department and the woman said she doesn’t know where the driver is but it’ll be an hour.... meaning no one ever left to deliver our food. I finally give up and tell them to forget it and to refund us the $1500 we paid for the food and delivery. We order dominos who got us 20 pizzas in 35 minutes. Two hours later, Blue Ribbon shows up with our food - in the bed of a pick up truck. He tries to get us to take the food a few times and we have to continue to tell him we don’t want it and we’d like him to leave. Needless to say, they’re unreliable, unprofessional and very rude to...

BBQ , Hold The Attitude Please. The gentleman that works in West Newton Is a very Un-professional non-groomed representation of this business. I was greeted, and watched others being greeted by this individual while waiting for my order with a bothersom un-professional personality. This Should not be tolerated/ permitted. The rest of the Staff ,kind courteous and thankful . The BBQ atmosphere. Blaring Rock and roll ??. I have lived In Texas for over 26 years . I have visited numerous BBQ joints. From the Mom n Pop roadside to the full resteraunts. The Food here fairs OK to the BBQ I have came accustomed too. Although . The cornbread? dried edges served? "Thats a NO-NO almost insulting to the consumer.. The BBQ burrito? overstuffed with rice? "filler" and low portion of meat? Brisket Dried , I ordered bulk meats for a get together. Chopped Burnt ends and Chopped Brisket? This is not what I ordered .. I ordered yes Burnt Ends and Brisket but not to be chopped up. I didnt not realise this till after returning home and going through the order which I live in several towns over. Due to the personality of the Gentleman who I got my first impression of this establishment from. I just made do with what I had at hand and would result in another long drive. Sad to say . I will not return to this site. I understand New England is not known for BBQ.. Although, this site looks like it has great potential .. With the Right TRAINING and STAFF. It COULD ...
