This is a nice local pizza place where the pizzas, though a little doughy and oily, hit the spot in the right way. Food (4/5): There is a large variety of pizzas, from which you can buy slices, or pies ranging from medium to large. I got a medium pie for a 20$ that I was able to eat over two meals myself (I got the clam pizza). The taste of the pizza was very good, but it was a bit oily for my tastes. Plus, the dough was a little chewy; I like to eat the crust, but it's a full mouth workout to eat. Although I think the 20$ price tag for a medium pie was a bit pricy for my tastes, it's definitely better than what you get at a chain. Service (5/5): The people who work there are very friendly and are rather quick in producing your order. Sometimes they strike a conversation while you eat or wait (only if you want to though)! Atmosphere (4/5): The vibe is of a local pizza joint, which I appreciate; it feels very local. However, there's not much seating around; only about 3 to 4 tables inside, 1-2 outside, and 2 hightops with no seats. Great if you're just picking up, but eating there might be a bit cramped. Overall, a great joint for some non-chain, local pizza!

I've had some difficulty finding a thin, New York-style pie in the area that feels it hits on all fronts. Sweet Tomatoes has proven to be exceptional in quality. The crust is chewy and toothsome with a crispy handle on the end worth eating. The sauce actually makes itself known (rather than others in this style I've had that seem sprayed on, so thin and lacking was their presence). The ingredients taste fresh and of good quality. Nothing but impressed and will absolutely be back.

Stopped in for a quick dinner before a movie on date night. Got the pesto splash medium pizza and it was glorious. Crust had a wonderful crunch. Restaurant was clean and staff was friendly and attentive. Pizza was made fresh and quickly. One of the best pizza places in Boston

This is my first google review but I felt strongly about how bad and awkward of an experience my girlfriend and I had at this place. We came in and placed an order for three slices, two pepperoni and one cheese. After waiting for over 15 minutes, I went to check on our order and was informed that the place was completely out of pepperoni pizza. During the interaction, the staff acted like I had never ordered, and that I was asking for the moon when simply checking on our order. If I hadn’t said anything, I believe we would have never been served and forgotten about. It’s hard to describe the feeling in the air during this interaction, they were just plain rude and we felt very invisible. I could understand if the place was busy, but they weren’t. At all. They told use they could bring us cheese (no offer of refund for the difference since we paid for pepperoni.) Then it took another 15 mins for them to bring us 3 slices of cheese pizza.

To sum it up, don’t go here. This is easily the worst service I’ve ever received. And the pizza is...

We are new to Newton, used to get Upper Crust in Lexington, never had a bad experience, and were really excited about Sweet Tomatoes coming back. Unfortunately, I am not sure why we get so unlucky every time we order. Only ordered two times since reopening. Both times were for a take-out. First time asked for delivery, was told 20min, 40 min later no pizza (we are only 10min walk to the location) Finally my husband just went and picked it up himself. Got it home an hour after order was placed. Second time both pizzas were barely cooked, white crust, soft, I actually suspect it was undercooked and 2 full inches of empty crust on both pizzas, topping did not come even close to the edges. Two times, and both disappointments. Perhaps we should give it one more shot and just eat at the location. Really surprised as everyone was raving about it so much... I wish I...
