What you get at Sandwich Works is a decent sandwich with a working/middle class feel at a working class schedule.
This place is great if you are looking:
For a gluten-free sandwich - Their ingredients are not meant to be all-natural or super-organic, just good, basic sandwich ingredients. But they do offer GF bread and follow allergen protocols.
As a part of your early morning plan in Newton Centre - open for those taking the T who don't want a Starbucks coffee or pastry, it's a quick walk down the sidewalk. They make a quick sammich, can get you basic coffee/tea. Consider this place if you are in a hurry and call ahead.
Sandwich Works supports other small businesses and families through their workspace and tips, so you're supporting a family that looks after their own.
It also has a slight New York diner feel with it's dynamics of being in Newton Centre. Different than the rest of the Centre, check it out for it's reasonable aknowledgment to modern food trends with a traditional sandwich place feel.

Read morethis restaurant is the reincarnation of golly whoppers sandwiches. My first experience with this restaurant was not exactly a stellar occasion. I decided to order the Greg's special which is turkey with pimento cheese and jalapenos. I ordered the sandwich hot with pumpernickel bread and what I got was a cold sandwich on white bread. the pimento cheese which usually should have a bit of a salty bite to it was basically Kraft shredded cheese mixed with mayonnaise and pimento flavoring. I am not usually one to complain and I really did not have time for them to fix the sandwich as I only had a few minutes remaining of my lunch break. in my opinion the sandwich was too rich with every bite I took. I am NOT going to rate it at one star because the rap that my wife ordered was fantastic and I regret that I did not order it. I will more than likely return and try something different on the menu and hopefully I will get a chance to update and edit this review. in the meantime I really wish I could...
Read moreThe first thing you'll notice about this place is how friendly the staff is. I don't know how they do it but they are always extremely warm and nice with everyone in a very sincere way and that goes a long way, especially in Boston. Add on to that the quality of the good and coffee and you have a winner that is definitely a hidden gem in Newton. I've tried a couple of the breakfast sandwiches as well as their lunch sandwiches and they all have amazing quality and flavor for a great price. You can tell as you watch them cook your food that they have pride in everything they do. All around, worth the trip from anywhere around Boston for a great value and experience from a cafe...
