We ordered two number 5 value meals. Then they asked what size of pop we wanted. My husband wanted a medium and I wanted a small. When we got to the window to pay it was over fifteen dollars. We looked at the receipt and there was added charges. We asked why those were on there. Come to find out they charged us extra for my husband wanting a medium pop, and they made the mistake of giving me the same size so they charged extra for mine also. Then because they upgraded the size of the pops they automatically upsized the potato oles and charged us extra for those. I can see paying extra for the pop, (but only one was suppose to be medium) but we weren't asked about the oles. Makes me mad. When I order a value meal for a certain price, that's what I want. Don't ask me what size or add extra cost without informing me that is costing more and don't automatically upsize something else. Not sure we will eat there anytime soon. If you go make sure you tell them you want whatever size pop that comes with the meal. So it doesn't happen to you. I feel it was a sneaky way to...

I have been eating at Taco John's restaurants for decades and have also worked at one before- so I like to think that I am a reputable reviewer.
The Newton TJ's restaurant used to be one of the best to visit, but has sadly gone down hill fast in the last five years or so. I won't be gentle: The food tastes old. The veggies even taste downright rotten. The meat (usually chicken) is extremely dry. If and when I get a stuffed burrito, it is almost never fresh tasting. And on a side note- two potato oles inside it is not enough. Don't be cheap. The ratios of sauce/cheese/meat needs to be retrained into the employees. This specific restaurant also has one of the longest waits that I've encountered. Which usually wouldn't bother me, but considering the food is not fresh, it's not worth the money or the wait.
Please work with your staff to ensure that quality food is being served to your customers. I would hate to avoid this place...
Read moreTaco John's food is just okay compared to other fast food "Mexican" eateries. Im sorry but it's true. On that note, my review is based on the drive thru experience as well as quality of the mediocre food. Often while traveling, eating on the go is a great time saver. This can become very inconvenient if the food you received is prepared sloppily or incorrectly. On first arrival, the drive thru line wrapped around the building and out into the parking lot. With approximately 7 cars in front of me, and traveling with my dog, my only option was to wait. My wait was less than 5 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised. I was very satisfied with the freshness of the food I received on this day, as well as the accuracy of the order. The burritos were well rolled without food falling out or sauces dripping everywhere. I was provided all the necessary/requested condiments and an adequate...
