We are new to the area and have been to many Starbucks. Each location is a bit different in the way their volume of business comes in. Some Starbucks have huge drive thru windows, others have lots of foot traffic. With the Starbucks in Newtown it seemed that if you didn't order using the app, you were forgotten. I ordered a drink at the counter at 8:12 in the morning. I paid in cash which is still preferred with us. When I moved to the other end of the counter there were 23 finished drinks sitting on the counter. (App Orders) these drinks were being touched, moved, multiple handled which in itself is no longer germ conscience in anyway. The pickup area and handling was worse than a buffet line as it pertained to germ transfer. I had 17 minutes to watch this order ahead Starbucks push drinks across a counter with little health awareness, friendship or emotion. After 16 minutes the barista nearest to me asked for my name. I was still about 8-9 cups down the line but she "jumped me ahead". If ordering a coffee at Starbucks means people who prefer counter service over the app get left behind than I won't last long here. Maybe Starbucks should look into some software that can prioritize walk-in traffic versus the App. Or maybe Starbucks should just go with app stores and eliminate the once warm environment. Starbucks has some wobbling wheels. Higher prices, staff shortages, inconsistent coffee taste, apps versus service and most important a loss of warmth and kinship. To big to fail? I...
Read moreThe people that work here are extremely nice, the coffee is good (if you like Starbucks coffee), and the atmosphere is pretty relaxing too excluding the coffee making noises.
There is just one thing that bothers me: the customers are terrible. They throw coffee if it's too hot at the baristas, they are snotty and feel entitled to almost everything, and some of them are just drop dead stupid (seriously, one walked in and didn't know if they served coffee here, they were in highschool).
If the customers weren't straight up awful towards the workers here, then this place would be perfect :) I always come here to write my book, so it helps a lot to have a bit of coffee by my side and nice hardwood tables to rest my computer on.
P.S. not all customers throw coffee, but the select few that have done so have terrified the people that work there. Most of the customers are just snobby and rude if I had to put...
Read moreWas here on a Sunday and Manager seemed flustered trying to train a new employee. She said this was her first day. We were able to politely place our order and wait for our coffee. I grabbed 1 pack of sugar that was on the edge of the workspace. I did not touch the other packs. It's been a while since I have been in a Starbucks and I'm used to adding my own sugar and milk. Evidently they are still practicing some COVID restrictions. I was reprimanded quite loudly by the over-zealous Manager (or owner) not sure who he was. Manager says "Next time We are the only ones to add the sugar to the coffee". For me and my wife there will be no next time here. Happy to go to the chains that allow adults to add their own sugar and milk. Coffee was good except they added too much...
