The service was excellent! Very attentive! Nit many people inside on a Friday night but take out customers were back to back non stop so it's clearly a hot spot đ
It was my first time so we got a few items, scallion pancakes, rangoons, pork fried rice, orange chicken and garlic steak.
Appetizers were very crispy and perfectly made.
Pancakes were airy and flavorful. I could have eaten 5 plates of that! 10/10
Rangoons were delicious. Crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside! 10/10
Pork fried rice ....amazing. 20/10
I would come here for Appetizers all day any day! Next time I come ill have to try the egg rolls and a few other items that caught my eye!
So here is the ..odd part of the meal - IMO...
I got the garlic steak. I assumed it would come with broccoli, baby carrots, etc. You know the typical "Chinese veggies" you would get with take out. Oh no no no. They went in a complete different direction. Red pepper Strips, sugar snap peas, carrots and large chunks of zucchini. A LOT of zucchini. I'm not mad about it. It was delicious and very spicy. But I'm just confused at why sooo much zucchini! To me it just made it look like "filler" veggies. I don't believe it was mentioned in the menu about which veggies...I probably wouldn't have ordered if I knew that. However the steak was very well seasoned and tender.
I would definitely order this again, now that I know what to expect!
Now, on the other hand, my date ordered the orange chicken and was very bummed about it. He did ask for it to be a little less spicy, so I don't know if that made the difference but it really shouldn't have. The chicken was HUGE chunks of white chicken breast, nicely breaded and coated, there was plenty of sauce for sure. Again with the odd choice in veggies but not as much. The sauce However just didn't have much of a flavor except sweet. There wasn't much of an orange taste or a spice at all. It was all one note. He ended up adding some of the duck sauce on the table to it and that helped it a lot! Normally people specifically ask for white meat only and I'm sure that's where their mind was at when making this dish - most people don't know how much better dark meat is- especially in sticky sauces like this. The very large pieces of chicken looked nice but once you cut them down to normal bite sizes they needed more sauce to even out the sauce to meat ratio đŹ If this was smaller cuts of chicken this wouldn't have been so bad. He said he would NOT order this again. I don't enjoy orange chicken so I have no say in that but he gave it a 6/10 for quality and presentation.
One other thing that I noticed, that other tables meals had come with a bowl of white rice. Again, I assumed and don't remember what the menu said but I've always gotten a side of white rice with my meals at other places. Now I assume that because we ordered the pork fried rice they assumed that would be our rice.
I would have enjoyed white rice more with the meals then pork friend rice which we got just to try as an app (it was a huge bowl for $15 so it was definitely taken home)
That was a tad annoying on their part but thats on us for not asking.
The service was fast. The staff was very friendly and attentive! 100/10
We would 100% go back...but we know to ask for more details or ask for substitutions for veggies next...
Read moreYesterday I went to âDuck Sauceâ a Chinese restaurant located in Newtown, Bucks County. I originally went to the restaurant to support a friend of mine who worked there, and her family owns it. But it was so good I had do a review. The first thing I had was crab rangoons. The crab rangoons was made in a way I did not expected. Usually when I order crab rangoons from a Chinese restaurant, the type you would find around the corner from your house. They would make it really soft, and the filling taste artificial. But here, the crab rangoons were made in a crunchy dumpling, and a freshly-made crab and cheese filling. In addition a delicious dipping sauce. I had tasted a lot of crab rangoons, but this was truly the best plate of crab rangoons I ever had. The next thing I had was a Kani salad. I never had a kani salad before, but as typical of me, I will always try new things. The salad itself was strips of imitation crab on top of cucumbers with avocado on top. All mixed is a spicy and creamy dressing. The salad overall was pretty delicious it reminded me of a certain type of sushi that I ate at a Japanese restaurant years prior. The last thing thing I had was a plate of General Tsoâs Chicken. A beloved staple in American-Chinese culture. The chicken like, the crab rangoons, was also prepared differently then what I am used to. The chicken was much bigger and less chewy, than its inferior âThe Chinese restaurant around the cornerâ counterpart. The chicken did not tasted like it was pre-packaged and was made fresh. Also the tangy sauce that it was served in, tasted like it was homemade. The overall experience at the restaurant was really pleasant. The family who owns it it, clearly put a lot of hard-work and effort into keeping the restaurant well-maintained and the food presentable. It saddens me to look at the reviews online and see a lot of âKarensâ complaining about the most minor inconveniences about the food and the restaurant in general, because it is their only source of amusement in their overly pathetic lives. This restaurant is by far, clearly superior to all other Chinese restaurants in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Even superior to the much more popular Buddakan. No need for overly fancy food, or mediocrity-done meals. Just good ol fashioned, family-made meals. So when you have the time, I would strongly suggest checking out Duck Sauce restaurant. As it is the best Chinese food I had ever...
Read moreSince moving to Newtown in 2018, I have been terribly disappointed with Chinese/Asian Fusion food options in the area. That is until I ordered takeout lunch today (my go to for Miso Soup is closed Tuesday). Growing up in NJ, eating NYC Chinatown food growing up and spending time in Taiwan and China on several occasions, Iâve got to say Iâve found my go to for my Chinese food fix! My wifeâs comment from her first bite of her Sweet & Sour chicken was âitâs actually chickenâ as she pointed her half bitten chicken at me (as if I didnât believe her). I ordered their Miso Soup, Hot & Sour soup, Vegetable spring rolls, beef noodles, scallion pancakes and the Miso Soup was better than some Japanese restaurants Iâve been to. Anytime I try a new chinese restaurant, I have to order their Hot & Sour soup. Depending on the ingredients, the consistency of the soup itself and flavoring tells a lot about the chefs cooking style and overall quality of the establishments food. Let me tell you - their soup was loaded with tofu, meat, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, egg white, pig ears (direct translation, dark mushrooms not actual ears of any kind) you name it. Scallion pancakes are meant to be chewy and flaky, they were perfectly browned all around, crispy and tasty without the sauce (even the sauce was delish). The spring rolls reminded me of the ones my mom made growing up. Full of flavor and a solid celery taste and crisp, not all soggy and over fried, saturated in oil. We will try the rest of the food for dinner, but itâs nice to know we have a Chinese take out we look forward to ordering from again! Itâd be nice if they had a lunch menu with better prices but with Covid and businesses having to cut back their days, dine in business, headcount and with little to no relief on the rent I am happy to pay higher prices than money I was giving away to other take out places that I couldnât even finish their food after 1-2 days in the fridge. We shall see if their food can withstand my refrigerator test, but I have a feeling theyâll do fine. My boys are half Chinese so I am grateful theyâll have this local business as a reference to what Chinese food should be before things get better and we can...
