Cafe Con Leche — Restaurant in Newtown

0 Stars if we were allowed to choose it. My girlfriend and I were excited to try a place that had great Vegan reviews to meet her diet needs as well as a solid menu for myself. Upon arriving we noticed it was a tiny place. No big deal as a 20 minute wait was expected on a Saturday night. We walked across the street to get a drink at a local bar while we waited for our text message that our table was ready. That never happened so we decided to walk back and see. We noticed there were plenty of open tables so we asked to be seated and were accommodated right away. We ordered within 10 minutes of sitting down. An hour went by and no food. We asked if it was coming out soon and we were told yes "it's really busy" although at that point it was almost closing time and the restaurant wasn't nearly as busy as it previously was. We continue to wait for an hour and 30 minutes total until we decided to just leave. We were really looking forward to trying this place and I'm sure the food is good, but we were already waiting for an additional 20 minutes after the restaurant was supposed to close and just wanted to enjoy our meal. This was my second visit—and unfortunately, my last. We arrived at 2:30 PM, seated ourselves as instructed, and by 2:41 PM we still hadn’t been formally greeted, offered water, or provided a beverage menu. A staff member (white male who told us to sit anywhere) walked by, and we politely asked for water. He said he would be right back after using the restroom. I waited near the front counter, and he walked right past me to make coffee—steaming milk and preparing a coffee for someone else—without so much as a glance toward our table. We never received water or any service at all.

After driving nearly 40 minutes to dine here again, we ended up walking out and finding another place to eat. Disappointing doesn’t begin to describe the experience. The only reason I’m giving one star is because of the memory of the attentive and friendly staff from my last visit. Unfortunately, that level of service was nowhere to be found today. I can’t rate the food because we were never served. The atmosphere was average, but the service (or lack thereof) has made it unlikely that...

The menu seemed very good and I was excited to check it out. I enter the restaurant the hostess/ server was very engaged in social conversation with her girlfriends, I had to ask the hostess if it was open seating, cause apparently greeting guests is not a thing any more. Then after I sat myself and about three minutes go by, there must have been a lull in the gossip conversation where the female server felt compelled to give me a menu. So she sets down the menu and then leaves never asking what I wanted to drink. The gossip conversation must have been getting juicy and she had to get back to friends ASAP. Well 5 minutes go by and enough is enough as I returning my menu, walking out the door my server suddenly was interested in maybe doing her job.

I will say this though the dark haired female server that is there this afternoon has no interest in serving the public.
