The Cottage Cafe — Restaurant in Nicholasville

Excellent food, when it finally arrives. Waited to give drink orders, drinks came 10 minutes later. I ordered water with no lemon and black coffee. It had lemon, no big deal but the empty coffee cup was filthy. To which we were told they are "stained and bleached and fine to use", even with the chips in them. Plenty of cream and sugar for my black coffee. 10 minutes later our waitresses shows up to take our order. Unsure if they had what we wanted, she excused herself to go check. After serving other patrons, using the cash register and finishing up a few other things she finally returns to take our order, but remembered that she had forgotten to check to see if they were serving biscuits still. After 30 minutes, our order is placed. Finally. We are watching other patrons come in after us, getting served food before us and the only thing I could see that was different was our wait staff. Another 30 minutes go by when my mother has to complain about our food not arriving after an hours wait. The waitress said she understands everyone has a bad day, she doesn't take it personally and that after checking our ticket we had only been waiting 30 minutes. We were there a full hour, no matter to her how long it took to take our order. In a restaurant with very few patrons who were eating and leaving while we waited. For plates that didn't require to be cooked fresh, only plated and brought to us. Never had such terrible service there before, but never had this waitress before. First of all some of those pics are NOT the Cottage Cafe!! There is NO bar and it's NOT nearly as classy as some of the pics make it appear. I want to like this place. Really, I do. I've given them several opportunities and have been disappointed every time. The food is pretty good but the service has been lousy every time I've been in. On one occasion we waited so long for our food that I just left a dollar on the table for my tea and we left and went to McDonald's. It seems like they know most of their customers and they take care of them but they ignore you if they don't. Forget getting a drink refill or asking if you want dessert because that NEVER happens. I ordered the"all you can eat" catfish tonight. After I finished my first portion and waited about 15 minutes the waitress finally came by to see if I wanted more and I said I did but she never brought any. After waiting several more minutes a different waitress came by and asked if I was having catfish and if I wanted more. I told her yes I did. But SHE didn't bring any. Then after another 10 minutes the first girl stopped by again and asked if I wanted more. I told her yes I did.Finally she came back with two pieces of fish but no more tarter sauce though she could obviously see the empty container on my plate. Was a horrible experience for my birthday will never go here again there were 6 of us 3 adults and 3 children we ordered took forever to get our food and when it was brought out they only brought 1 child’s food and 1 adults food then 20 minutes later we finally got everyone else’s food or most of it my daughter ordered the meatloaf which was spoiled so she sent it back and asked for chicken tenders instead which she finally received when everyone was finished eating my eggs were under cooked and my mother never received the coleslaw that was supposed to come with her meal yet we were charged for the spoiled meatloaf and the coleslaw along with the horrible hash brown casserole I told them I didn’t want when I ordered it left my daughter apologizing to me for the horrible experience instead of the employees who should have made things right and apologizing yet when they were told about the spoiled meatloaf their response was no one else has complained this is not...
