not often that a place falls into poor-fair in all 3 categories for me....but no doubt this one did. Maybe its just more evidence that the only good jamaican food is gonna be on the south side (shoutout to jamaican jerk spice!!!)...certainly no further north than Mr Browns Lounge.
Short Version: caused friend to throw up, chicken was boring/bland/old/terrible, a bit over priced, employees/owners kind of rude and dull, there was no decor to speak of.
Anyway we ordered pickup, me and a friend, 1 jerk dinner and 1 curry chicken dinner. After finishing most of his curry chicken (which i found kinda bland), my friend ran to the bathroom and ralphed it all up (vomit). He didnt end up getting full on food poisioning, but something with that chicken didnt agree and needed to come up. Ive eaten older chicken before, and i think that was just it, the chicken was old. Cause mine tasted like garbage.
Jerk chicken is all about seasoning/sauce/spice. This chicken had a light coat of sauce on it, but it was dried on, tasteless, and uneventful. Nothing was remotely spicy even with the weak sauce they charged extra for.
Service wise, when we got there, we asked to sit down to which we were denied. Then we begged. Denied. Then we offered money. Denied. He wouldnt let us sit cause they are sposed to use plates....and that was the best reason. I wanted to add plaintains and wait for em and sit down....but dude wouldnt let us do it. Then he kinda snapped at me to sign the receipt. Slow down buddy. Its still my money. FYI no one else was in line or ordering...and the joint was empty.
Basically, if you know good jamaican food. You will be disgusted by this place....if your diet is as bland and boring as their chicken, you might actually dig it.
The cornbread was decent tho. Wish it was bigger.
PS - no WAY those pictures above are from this restaurant. Those are all stock photos of jamaican food. This place cant even come close to presenting...
Read moreDO NOT order from this place or believe the positive reviews. They must be fake. No reasonable person would do repeat business with this place. I called them about picking up 2 jerk chickens dinners. They advised me I could get 2 dinners of 8-"jumbo" jerk wings each, with 3 sides for roughly $19 each, for a total of $41. I actually received less than 4 regular sized jerk wings, cut in halves, and side orders that amounted to barely one serving. The 2 "dinners" were barely enough food for 1 person. The premises looks impoverished. I felt scammed as if they make their money cheating unsuspecting new customers on pick up orders. I dont mind spending money on a good meal, but I essentially received a snack and were lied to about the alarmingly small amount of food they give customers. Ironically, the food tuned out to be terrible. It took 2 days to flush it out of my system for my stomach to recover. It caused me nausea. My guess is that they use some sort of unique spicy jerk seasoning on chicken to make it seem like authentic jerk. It ruined me fot 2 days so, in retrospect, I am glad they gave me such exceptionally small potions.. When I called them to politely explain the problem they were very kind but didnt appear surprised and merely said "sorry" as if they get this feedback all the time. I cant imagine someone else going through the experience. My recovery was grueling after eating their food and I am in great physical condition. AVOID....

WOW, no words can describe how great this place is. Everything was perfect from the food, service, and hospitality. What a nice couple that runs the place. The food was da BOMB. It tasted like home cooked Jamaican food in a restaurant.
We were there for a surprise birthday party. The restaurant was very accommodating. They even have BYOB.
We had sweet plantains, rice & beans, white rice, Jerk chicken, oxtail & beans, goat curry, and salad. Lots of food but I couldn't get enough. I kept going back for seconds and thirds. It was just too good to stop. But of course, I can never say no to dessert. We had Rum and Raisin Ice Cream for dessert which was quite different from other cakes I've had but good nonetheless.
We were definitely there past closing time but the restaurant didn't rush us or made us feel pressured to leave which I really...
