First time I’ve been, and I’ll be going back! It’s a small old school store packed floor to ceiling with mostly dry goods, along with small cuisine-specific dairy, deli and freezer cases. Great assortment of various nuts and dried fruits used in Persian cooking and snacking; authentic tea; very nice selection of traditional sweets, refrigerated for freshness; pickled vegetables (whole and spreads, hot and mild); lots of spices!; a variety of lavashak; various flower waters; and products made from pomegranate (juice, molasses, etc). The gentleman owner was the nicest person. He took time to explain certain items to me, talk a bit about various traditional dishes, and gave me some free samples to try while in store. We recently found this shop and asked our nanny to stop here to pick up a Persian spice. She is a kind-hearted, soft-spoken, petite woman. When she asked Peyvand where she could find the spice, he grabbed her by the back of her neck and started shoving her towards the aisle. When she told him to get his hands off of her, he tightened his grip and then put her into a choke hold with his arm wrapped around her neck. I am horrified by this demented man's behavior. During a visit to this store, the owner physically put his hands on my mother while she was simply looking for a product. No one should ever feel unsafe or threatened, especially in a place of business. This kind of behavior is completely inappropriate and unacceptable.
