The one and only kosher place I personally go to in the Chicagoland area. For those of you who don't have time to read through start off with Hummus with Mushrooms, proceed with Curry Chicken Plate, and finish off with Layered Cake and some Nana-Tea you won't miss it
Taboun grill is a family-owned, cozy, homelike restaurant of the Authentic Israeli Taimani food and it is all about the details when it comes to food. The Pita bread recipe casually served with majority of the food options have been mastered and changed throughout the years I have been coming here and nowadays ordering a simple Matbucha appetizer with the fresh, hot, aromatic toasty bread is more then enough to impress ones world of tastes. Different kinds of Shawarma grilled meats are constantly being roasted on the skewer oven so the customers always get the fresh supply of their order at any given time. A special pleasure is to ordereTurkish coffee which is going to be baked in front of you in a pot on the open fire. This and many more recipes in which the family takes pride, one can definitely say that this is the work of their life, a restaurant to be proud of
The place is usually packed everyday in the evening times and one is sure to meet new friends occasionally
For those of you wondering the place is decorated by paintings by a skillful painter name Dafna Menorah and yes it is for sale, therefore, one going here often enough will notice the gallery constantly changing
It is a must-visit place of the Chicago area good to go to as with friends as with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe reason I gave this place one star is that, it doesnāt even deserve any star. And the owner has the nerve to complain about me giving Taboun one star without any explanation!! Here we go. Where do I start:) Iām going to sum it up for Him and to all who are thinking of going there. First of all Iām going to start with their version of āimitating Falafelā: wayyy too dry tasteless and very greasy! Tahini sauce is horrible and somewhat bitter. Of all the recipes posted on Line (by real experts of falafel making from neighboring countries, particularly Lebanese version), one would think they would have learned how to make a delicious tahini souce by now. Their food at best, is a very poor imitation of middle eastern food, which they call it Israeli food:)))). First of all, thereās no Israeli food!!! Their Hamus is not anything to write about either. Their Chicken and the rest of so-called Kebabs are way too dry and totally tasteless! Overall, Horrible Middle Eastern food imitation. I have been there twice. The second time very reluctantly, only upon the desire and the insistance of some friends from Israel who wanted to go and give it a try. Donāt waste you money! There are too many real Middle Eastern restaurants out there. Donāt waste your money on these...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely fabulous. Spacious, comfortably lit, and well ventilated. You would never know the shawarma and grilling takes place openly right across the counter. But you can't miss it as you look across the large room over the happy diners and along the walls adorned with beautiful art depicting Israel and Judaica. Vibe is comfortable and, casual, and family friendly. Service is fabulous and waits are completely reasonable. The Israeli salad, in deed, all of the salads, are fresh, addictive, seasoned to perfection. The pita is hot and fresh and fluffy. Imagine my delight when my 8 year old tries the shawarma for his first time ever and says "it's amazing!" The wait staff are sweet and attentive and polite. I expected the Yemenite soup to be thicker and to come with pieces of meat but the flavor was there and it warmed my soul. For desert do not pass up the home made baclava or pareve ice creams. Kids menu includes chicken nuggets and a burger sans veggies. With sides of fries. Can accommodate parties of few to many. Order the ribeye with a side of Israeli salad and fries, some hummus and fresh pita and feel like a new person. I can't wait to return and try the curry chicken. ש××ר, שת×ש×× ××צ××× ×××...
