On 3.25th, 2025 I ate a salmon burrito. On 4. 2nd, I got my card statement. Instead of Tokyo Lunch Box, a Permanently closed business name was charging its price, $14.45. At 7pm & 7:12pm I called here, but nobody picked up the phone. The Hmart CS woman HeeJung Kim 김희정 said, they close at 7pm and open at 11(?). So I gave up calling them more to solve this issue! *But if I google their website, it said they open for 9-9. The Hmart CS person gave me a wrong information! On 4.3rd, at 9:12 am, I called again. A Mexican employee said the owner Mr. Kim comes at 5pm. Around 5:05 I called 4th time ! To a woman on the phone, I asked the owner Kim, but she said he's not there. I said the employee woman told me that he'll be at the place at 5pm every day. She repeated he's not there. I asked her when he's coming back. She asked me why. I explained what happened. SHE SAID SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! Excuse me? Aren't you a Korean? I asked her. She didn't answer. I asked her name. She said 00 Kim. Aren't you his wife ? Then why do you pretend as if you're not a Korean ? She said she's not an owner and why she should tell me she's his wife ! And she said, " You mean you took money from my place, right? Then bring the proof, And I'll refund the amount!" Oh, my ! Do you "sell money?" I took money ? Isn't there a restaurant? I said I ate lunch there! When I explained you again in Korean, why do you say something odd ? She didn't answer. She rather asked my name ! Gosh ! Why do you need my name ? I asked her to focus the problem and asked her again, WHY AN UNKNOWN PLACE in CHICAGO CHARGED ME THE $14.45 FOR MY LUNCH WHEN I ATE IT AT HER BUSINESS IN NILES ! BUT INSTEAD, SHE COMPLAINED THAT I MADE HER UNHAPPY, COMPLAINING ON THE PHONE !!! I ASKED HER AGAIN TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED, BUT SHE HUNG UP THE PHONE !!! WHAT THE HACK IS IN HER MIND ????
Mr. Kim ! You give me a call & explain to me what happened for the charge of 3.25, 2025 !
BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T PICKE UP THE PHONE & DIDN'T GIVE ME A CALL, I CALLED H-MART AND ASKED THE HEEJUNG KIM TO ASK THEM TO GIVE ME A CALL, BUT SHE REFUSED IT, AND A DIFFERENT WOMAN CAME ON THE PHONE AND SHE SAID SHE WILL DO IT. BUT, SO FAR THE TOKYO RESTAURANT NEVER GAVE ME A CALL TO SOLVE...
Read moreWhen you are buying sushi from a supermarket, as opposed to from a sushi chef in a back alley of Tokyo, you can't ask for perfection. That said, the sushi here is quite good and fresh although that quality and taste does not come cheap.
There is a food court in HMart supermarket complex with a few tables per restaurant/stall. It is usually enough table space but at peak times it can get pretty cramped.
Service is a bit on the gruff side for the price required, in my opinion.
Pro Tip If you come as a couple or group, why not split a pack (or two) of sushi among yourselves and try some of the offerings from other stalls, as well? Ok, I freely admit that that was not exactly a groundbreaking suggestion but....what...
