I have been a long running customer at Guadalajara since it replaced Cali Tacos, but their customer service was so incredibly disappointing the last time I ordered from them that have no plans on returning. On January 17th my family ordered our regular pick up order and were told via phone the cost would be the usual, under 40 dollars. Upon arrival we are handed an almost 60 dollar bill with no explanation, when questioned the host who stated his brother was the owner advised me that he had no explanation as to why we were charged more, gave us our food and told us that for the incorrect bill (that he had no explanation for) it would be fully refunded back to our card. We waited a week and did not see the return, so we returned to the restaurant to figure out what had happened. The gentleman who helped us at this point informed us that the original phone order had been placed as a door dash ticket rather than a take out order and preceded to give us 10$ back.
I am horribly upset that after a week of waiting, without being provided a proper explanation for the mishaps in the first place, which seems simple enough to have solved that evening, we did not even receive the refund we were told we would receive as we were overcharged due to an issue that was not our own doing. I have worked in many restaurants and plainly its just bad customer service.
We were told twice( the night of the incident, and the night of “resolving” the issue) that the man who originally took the order was the brother of the owner as well. It’s obvious that this restaurant cares more about babying the feelings of their family than owning up to their mistakes, or resolving the issues their employees created for paying customers. Their food is good but I’d rather give my money to folks who care about the people who put money into their pockets and keep their business going. I would not be nearly as mad if i had not had to wait a week for them to take the time to look at their system and assist their customer, rather they found a simple in the moment solution that they had no plan of following through with, and did not care about wasting their...
Read moreI met the brother of the owner, and we got to talkin. Usual stuff, but we got on the topic of the restaurant. He invited me to stop in some time. I was hungry, so I stopped in sooner rather than later. I was really taken in by the atmosphere. Not a huge place, but a super friendly staff. Within a couple of minutes of being greeted, I was seated and handed a menu. 2 minutes or so later, I was given the best dang warm, crispy corn tortilla chips with a flavorful and zesty salsa. The Menu offered a lot to choose from, but not too much. I like a menu that's easy to navigate. I ordered the street tacos and I presumed they were the size of the average street tacos which tend to be pretty small. The wait was more than reasonable and they brought out these wonderfully presented street tacos. They were set in these metal holders which made it super easy to add in any additional ingredients without needing to handle the tacos until you're ready to eat. These were quite large for a street taco and OMG they were so good. I had the steak, and chicken varieties and I could have eaten 10 more. The side dish of rice and beans was arguably one of the most delicious iterations of such a simple food item, but so often many authentic restaurants get it wrong. Not this time, the beans and rice were just as good as the rest of the meal. Great value for the money, and a wonderful and gracious staff. I blame the owner. He was just as pleasant as anyone could want. I'll definitely be bringing a date here for...
Read moreRevising the review as our recent return visit was disappointing. The positive is the chips, salsa, and margarita were good. We ordered and waited 30-40 minutes for 5 tacos. Not a big deal, even though they did not appear busy. Worse was that a table of 6 came in after we ordered and received their food before us. When we did receive food, my S.O received rice and beans that she said she did not want when ordering. This did not stop the waitress from arguing us about it and telling us we ordered wrong.
I could forget about all of that if the food was good, but half of it wasn't even hot. One of them tasted like the meat was pulled straight from the fridge and served. All of the tortillas were soggy and disintegrated as soon as we tried to pick them up. The potato taco tasted like old frying oil which was not very pleasant either. We each had one that was good, but that's only 2 out of the 5 tacos ordered.
It was surprising how drastically different our two experiences here have been. Maybe it was an off day, a really off day, but I don't know if I will be back again.
Original Review: Thorougly enjoyed the chips, salsa, and queso. Most of the tacos we tried were delicious, especially the el pastor. The carne azada was pretty dry though. Service was...
