Dickey's Barbecue Pit — Restaurant in Nixa

We had Dickeys BBQ cater my sons wedding on July 1st 2018.. To start with they didnt deliver or set up the food at all we had to pick it up and set it up ourselves...It took 3 weeks for them to give us a straight answer for a price for the catering.. We kept asking and they kept dodging the question for weeks!! Finally the day before the wedding they gave us a price.. We only had to feed less than 40 people.. I thought when you hire someone to cater THEY DELIVER IT! NO WE HAD TO RUN TO NIXA AFTER THE WEDDING PART WAS OVER THE GROOM (my son) and his best man WERE THE ONES TO PICK IT UP!! DICKEYS FORGOT SEVERAL DISHES THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO COME WITH THE CATERING.. THEY DIDNT EVEN OFFER TO MAKE IT RIGHT OR RETURN PART OF THE MONEY NOTHING... HAD I KNOWN IT WAS GOING TO BE LIKE THIS I WOULD HAVE CALLED SUBWAY AND HAD THEM CATER... I AM VERY ANGRY MY SON (the groom) SHOULDNT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PICKING UP THE FOOD ON HIS WEDDING DAY!!! THE FOOD WAS GOOD BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER IF THE SERVICE HAD BEEN BETTER AND ALL THE FOOD HAD BEEN THERE.. THEY DIDNT EVEN TRY TO COMPENSATE ME FOR ANY OF IT... THE FIRST TIME WE WENT TO PICK THE FOOD UP (it was about 2:40pm) (it was supposed to be picked up at 330pm) I ASKED THE GUY IF WE COULD JUST HAVE A SEAT AND WAIT UNTIL IT WAS DONE (SINCE IT WAS 92 DEGREES OUT) HE SAID NO THAT WE COULDNT SIT AND WAIT UNTIL IT WAS DONE.. SO ALL TOGETHER WE MADE 2 TRIPS FROM NATHANIEL GREEN PARK TO NIXA TO GET THE FOOD!!!! I WILL NEVER STEP BACK IN THAT RESTAURANT AGAIN.. THAT MAN WAS DOWNRIGHT RUDE(he was a bigger built man).. IF IT HADNT HAVE BEEN MY SONS WEDDING DAY IWOULD HAVE THROWN A MAJOR FIT RIGHT IN THIER LOBBYAND I WOULD HAVE TAKEN MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE... POOR POOR POOR REVIEW!!!!!! Great food, but the staff greeted us with "You know how the kids eat free pricing works, right?"

We didn't even know that kids could eat for free, so that was cool news, but the tone of the man's voice made us feel unwelcome and second-rate. My wife sat at a both with our son, and I filled our three drinks. My hands were totally full, and another employee looked at me and said "your food is ready here on the counter."

I told them I needed a minute to set down the drinks at our table and they literally both stood there leaning on the counter, and "kids pricing" guy was sitting in a chair using his smartphone.

I came back to grab the food, there was no tray, and it was obviously a struggle to carry. As soon as I got it to our table, they BROUGHT OUT THE FOOD for the table next to us!

It may seem small, but when they rolled their eyes at me for requesting the roll that our kids meal was supposed to include, I was finished.

The table next to us was comprised of all adults, so maybe the staff is just annoyed by kids, and didn't want to make things easier. I'm guessing the manager either wasn't present, needs training, or should not be there.

I waited three weeks to write this review, because I think negative reviews are usually written in haste, but this experience...

• Update 11/28/2023: I reached our to "Cameron" with Dickey's as requested. Stonewalled, no reply. Not surprised in the least.

Dickey's BBQ in Nixa, MO reached the number of free passes I've given them tonight. I have a fam-member who hasn't been feeling well, said all he thought he could eat was a baked potato. Ordered that online w/ Dickey's tonight, went in to pick-up and was told "we're out of bakers". I asked why no one called to let me know? Response was "I thought this was a Door Dash order". What??? I'll be sure to never order Dickey's from Door Dash, they must not get notified if their ordered-items are out either. The store substituted a "local flavor" salad which was full of brown lettuce, including a browning salad-core, that looked about 1-day from turning bad (salad went into trash can). I'd estimate that 85% of the time we've ordered from this store, they are "out of bakers". For over $41.00 and this experience, we...
