My wife Kimberly and I decided to stop in for lunch since we knew that El Monarca in Nixa was on the smaller side. We were both raised on TexMex so was wondering how California Mex might be different. I have seen Barria Tacos mentioned on the internet and was intrigued enough to research how to make them since there didn't appear to be any served on local menus. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that they served Barria Tacos. Kimberly ordered the Asado Tacos while I ordered the Barria Tacos, and we got a small bowl of creamy thick Queso Dip.
Mexican food is our go-to food when eating out and after sixty years with several vacations to Mexico I thought I had tried every Mexican food served. But I have to say the Barria Tacos at El Monarca are quite possibly the most mouth-watering tacos I've ever had in my life. Kimberly who was really enjoying the Asado Street Tacos had to have a bite and agreed that even though the Asado Tacos were extremely tasty the Barria Tacos were several levels of deliciousness above.
I hate to even mention how flavorful the Barria Tacos are since I'm afraid their small restaurant will be swarmed by crowds storming the gates hoping to get a taste. But they're simply to good not to share. Hopefully, they'll be so successful that they'll purchase a much larger restaurant where we can get all the scrumptious Barria Tacos that we desire...
You better go try this restaurant before word gets out and you'll never get an opportunity to try this...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst service I’ve had in a very long time. The only people that noticed us were the people sitting at the 3 booths near the door. We waited to be sat for a few minutes. A hurried man directed us to a table tossing down menus without offering a booster or chair for my toddler. We obliged ourselves to a booster. He disappeared before I could even sit down. About 5 mins later three large tables arrived and were sat immediately. A server appeared a few mins later and addressed those tables with chips, salsa and queso they requested after the chips were delivered. Never acknowledging or addressing our table. When she reappeared at the booth next to us and took their drink order, we walked out. Im sure this restaurant relies heavily on their food due to the multiple bad service reviews but we were never able to even get that far. If you want to try it, I would suggest take out - if they even offer that. Not a good look when there are multiple restaurants with the same great food and service in Nixa. Only...
Read moreWe went for the first time thought we would try the new place for our Anniversary. Honestly happened to see it because of a detour boy were we glad. We were amazed how good it was. My husband's burrito was recommended by the waitress and it was the size of the platter and just the right amount of spice. My cheese enchiladas topped with carnita meat were so good (not usually a fan of meat on my enchiladas) but was so glad the waitress suggested them as well. My favorite food is Mexican and I am always trying to find a good place. I have found a few I like but this one will be my go to from now on. Such a hidden little place that was delicious. Loved all the different options to choose from we are going to try everything on their menu at some point for sure. Very friendly family that own it so give to them a try we want to keep...
