My hubby and I chose this place based off of reviews and the unique menu. When we arrived it started great. We immediately were greeted and promptly seated. Our server immediately started us with waters without us asking for it. When we decided what to eat and placed our order, that is basically the end of our service. We never saw our server again until about an hour or so later when someone finally paid attention to us and noticed our frustration. A different person brought our food out, not uncommon (we know) but we never had any follow up with our food. We never were asked if we wanted any condiments, refills, etc. We had to go find our own condiments and bring it to our table and we never, ever not once, had a refill on our water, which we ran out of way early in our meal. We were gonna have drinks but we never saw our server again, so we could never order them. We sat at our table for a solid half hour after we finished what we could of our food. Watching our server have fun with other servers with what appeared to be someone’s birthday gathering. I am 100% certain that no one would have even realized if we would have left because we felt that invisible and unimportant. Being honest people, we waited patiently eventually another employee saw us and got our server. Add insult to injury they ran out of to go boxes and can only offer us a large pizza box for our left overs. The food… yes different. It’s decent, I guess. It definitely seems like it needs to be updated for the season. I ordered an apple bacon (something) with grilled chicken sandwich. It taste like a leftover thanksgiving sandwich. My husband had some sort of nachos that were made with fries topped with special type of cheese and pickles. His was much better than mine and worth the money but you can’t take that home and reheat it for later. The pb&j wings were meh. Needless to say we won’t be back or recommend based on...
Read moreThis was a kitschy place. We were in the area checking things out when my wife spotted the PB&J wings on their menu. They looked and sounded very appealing on the Yelp page. Looks can be deceiving!!! We arrived and met Ava, our server. She was awesome, super accommodating. We ordered the PB&J wings to start, then progressed to our entree: the Grilled Apple and Chicken sandwich and the Double-wide dog. First, the wings: The first bite was the flavor profile, which woke up the taste buds, but then the mush of the old chicken meat spoiled the entire experience. We brought the concern to the attention of our server, Ava, who promptly apologized and stated that similar concerns from other customers had been expressed. Our entrees arrived and looked appealing, except for the burnt chili on the double-wide dog I dove in on my grilled apple and fried chicken sandwich, wholly Sahara desert Batman! The Granny Smith Apple was dry and flavorless, the fried chicken was saltine cracker dry and had no seasoning, but did come with a cute dish of peach compote.😂 Let’s talk about the train wreck of a hotdog. So I get the kitschy experience, the whole TV dinner thing a catchy bit let’s elevate the flavor of the dish we experienced as kids. The Double wide dog has sloppy Joe mix on one side and Chili on the other. Neither of which were any good, they were either old and stored in a serving pan or something, they tasted like they came straight out of their respective cans whether it was Manwhich or wolf chili! The highlights of the meal were the fried banana peppers, the hotdog itself and the bun. Super disappointing food.
Let's make better mistakes tomorrow. By accepting that we will sometimes get it wrong, we can allow ourselves to learn from and imagine new opportunities in the world of food. Our hope is we can take the lessons from our Challenges and create better flavors profiles to guide you on your next...
Read moreWe were watching Fresh, Fried, and Crispy (FFC) on Netflix when we realized that this chain had a location nearby in Nocatee so we headed out to check it out. Our friends were here before and said the cocktails were good, I'd say they were fine but nothing all that special. I had a "Cherry Cola" which was decent, not too boozy but you could definitely not mistake it for being non-alcoholic. My wife found the bloody mary to be a bit watery but tasted good overall.
We started with the Philly eggrolls which were really tasty, they were definitely FFC and the beer cheese on the side meant they don't explode all over you but there was plenty of filling. My kids got the burger and popcorn shrimp which came with popcorn instead of fries which they loved. The kitchen made a mistake with my wife's order and brought the shrimp tacos (they looked good but not what she wanted) but our waitress resolved it quickly when she came to check on us a minute or two after the food arrived. I had the chicken pancake tacos which were surprisingly really good; the pancakes weren't too sweet which let the strawberry salsa really shine with the crispy chicken. It was a large portion and was a little hard to eat since the pancakes aren't as sturdy as tortillas so they can make a bit of a mess. My wife's actual order of the ahi tuna tacos were very good, she only ate one because she wasn't too hungry at the time but she finished the others later on at home. The fish was fresh and the sauce really brought it all together and made it a great light meal, almost like poke on a taco. Like I mentioned, there was a small mix up at the kitchen but overall service was great and pretty quick when we went. Definitely worth a visit plus if you have kids you can sit outside and there is a small play structure nearby they can play on...
