Last night, my partner and I continued our search for a replacement pizza spot close to home since our favorite place closed. Though this spot is not within walking distance like the last by any stretch, it's closer than downtown Nashville! We agreed that we need to put them in regular rotation because they're just so good. We arrived around 7:15, which is a little late for us for dinner, but we were seated right away. The restaurant is in a strip mall that's hilariously right across the street from the building to which my hair salon just moved and right down the road from one of my favorite breakfast spots. Nolensville is really a great little area! Almost immediately after being seated, our server took our drink orders and we received bread. Not only was it a welcome sight because I was so hungry (we ate really late haha), but it was also delicious! The very crisp crust hid a quite soft interior, and the garlic butter was plentiful (even a pool of butter/oil at the bottom of the bowl in case you wanted to dip... And I did). Though they don't have seltzers, they do have wine (I got a glass of cab sav) and Blue Moons for my partner. That's a win for both of us! We got one of each. For an appetizer, we ordered the calamari and WOW. This is not a little appetizer for 2 people. This appetizer is huge and would be enough for 4-6 people as an appetizer. Of course, we love calamari and were hungry, so we ripped through the whole plate! It was perfectly cooked and crispy. It was also seasoned wonderfully (I did squeeze the lemon over the whole plate, just to be clear). When our giant pizza arrived, we laughed knowing that we'd be taking most of it home. We had no idea how huge the portion of calamari would be, and we killed those 4 garlic rolls like they were going out of style, so we only ate 2 slices, but WOW. This pizza is on point. It's crisp but foldable. Its toppings are balanced and plentiful. The flavor and chew are great. Honestly, one of the best pizzas I've had in a LONG time. I also have to mention service here. Superb. Great timing, well executed, and great personality. I believe her name was Libby. She should be given some kudos, as she was just a lot of fun. It's great when a server adds laughter to the table. We'll definitely be seeing the crew of Amico's again!
**A note for those who may know I tend to go GF to avoid barley. I was NOT careful last night, and my stomach does not hate me this morning. I did not see anything gluten free on the menu, but I wasn't...

Venturing into the heart of local flavor, my wife and I followed a tip from a town insider and landed at Amico's New York Pizza. The journey through their menu proved to be a rollercoaster of flavors and experiences.
From the moment we stepped in, we were whisked into a warm embrace of hospitality, greeted by a charming server who danced through our conversation in fluent Spanish, making us feel right at home. The service was swift and sweet, setting the stage for what we hoped would be a feast to remember.
Our appetizer, the garlic knots, promised delight but delivered disappointment, tasting like relics of a bygone microwave era, tough on the bite and shy on flavor. However, the culinary plot thickened with the arrival of our main courses. My Chicken Parmesan was a lackluster affair, a bland ensemble hastily thrown together, leaving my taste buds in a dreary waltz of mediocrity.
In stark contrast, my wife's Penne a la Vodka with Italian sausage was a scene-stealer. Each forkful was a festival of flavors, so much so that I was tempted to pull an old-fashioned heist to make her plate my own. Alas, love prevailed over greed, and I contented myself with the generous tastes she shared.
The backdrop of Amico's was an ode to casual dining - a lively pizzeria vibe that invited laughter and chatter, making it a perfect gathering spot for friends escaping the daily grind. While the pricing felt ambitious against the mixed culinary performance, the hefty portions provided some solace.
All told, our evening at Amico's was a symphony of hits and misses. The radiant service and vibrant atmosphere were highlights, painting over the culinary blips. Should you find yourself meandering through their menu, do aim for the Penne a la Vodka--it's a star performance not...
Read moreIm married to a girl who was born and raised in Brooklyn with family in the Bronx and she has made me very picky about my pizza.
In fact the best pizza I’ve ever had until today was from Spumoni Gardens in Brooklyn if ykyk. We lived in Orlando for ten years and had some decent NY pizza down there because there is a ton of transplants that way.
We’ve been in middle Tennessee for six months and we had lost hope in finding good pizza until today. This is the best pizza place I have been outside of New York and my wife can confirm. In fact it is only on the same level as Spumoni Garden like nothing else gets close.
The sauce/gravy is perfect blend of seasoning but sweet. The dough on the knots/rolls is soft but not doughy it’s the perfect airyness. The pizza crust is cooked perfectly to NY standard and it’s it too doughy of floppy and dense. We had the mozzarella wedges as an app and they were amazing. They also give you plenty for the price.
Overall we spent 60 for app, two large pizzas, and drinks which is not expensive at all. This is a must try if you are use to or want good pizza. It’s 45 mins from Murfreesboro but I’d take the drive any day. Customer service is good too, real quick and attentive too. This place is really in the middle of nowhere for someone new to Tennessee but the rest makes you think you are sitting in Brooklyn or the Bronx...
