We've passed this place many times and never thought anything of it. Its close to our home but always seemed to make out way to places like Hattie's or other larger places. While out running errands we happened to pass it and my wife looked it up and started taking a look at the menu. Interests were piqued so we went home to put groceries away and headed right back out to check it out. Let me tell you.... this place just blew all the other chicken places OUT OF THE WATER! By far the best chicken we've had in TN! All the other places the "Nashville Hot Chicken" wasn't all that spicy. It was good but like, not great either. This place.... I was legit sweating from the heat. These guys nailed it. Not to mention the staff is EXTREMELY energetic and friendly. I was wearing a Michigan State University sweatshirt and right after walking in I hear "ARE YOU A SPARTAN?!" to which I replied "Sure am!". That person came over to chat with us and turns out he was the owner and also attended there. Super nice guy! We talked about the business and what lead up this for a few minutes to get a bit of a backstory on this amazing gem he's created. Out of all the other chicken places we've been to, we've never had as good as experience as we did here. Even though it was our first time here all the staff made us feel like we were regulars. They took their time with us, they were laughing and having a good time at work. Have not seen that at 'the other' places and probably never will. It's also more affordable than the other places. Portions are more plentiful as well. Everything was great. We had a couple tenders missing from one of our orders and the staff apologized and brought out more out to the table within a few minutes with no issue. They made all their own sauces in house and they're all very unique and AMAZING. My only complaint is that.... ITS SO CLOSE TO THE HOUSE - my scale and wallet are going to need help. I joke, but seriously this is a special place and we WILL be back over...
Read moreI'm writing a formal complaint pertaining to the level of unprofessionalism that was exhibited during my visit today. I had simply ordered some food over the phone and everything was going fine. I was waiting in my car for quite some time before the blond woman, Kendall, walked out to bring me the food. I said thank you and she completely ignored the kind gesture. I had also noticed that she didn't bring me any napkins or utensils. So, I kindly asked for some. Once again, she didn't acknowledge me and then proceeded inside. When she went back inside, I looked through the door and saw that she was sticking up her middle finger at me! I was appalled to witness such an insulting and unprofessional gesture from an employee. Coincidentally, I happen to have some family and friends that work inside the establishment and it turns out that this kind of attitude is very common from her. I soon found out that oftentimes she doesn't acknowledge paying customers nor fulfills their orders. I don’t admire this type of behavior from a professional establishment and I hope to see something done about it before I come back here...
Read moreThis is a "no-nonsense" review, from a huge chicken tender/wing lover. I have traveled the USA and had many variances of chicken and there are some great ones, but Outlanders is one of the best that I have found. I love the small little dive type building, but don't be fooled....the place is amazing. The quaint old building, to the fun decorations, to the old vibe of feeling like I am at a small hometown business in "nowhere" Indiana. This place has great chicken. Fresh. I mean very fresh. I have been many times over the years and Outlander never disappoints. My adult kids say it's better than any chain that you hear of and when they are in town it is a must stop for them at Outlanders. Don't even try to compare Outlanders to Buffalo Wild Wings, Raising Canes, Zaxby's, Waldo's, Maniac's, McDougals, etc., they don't even stack up to Outlanders. Brian Summers has built a small town business that the locals love, and the out of town people wish they had in their hometowns. The staff are young, friendly and service is great. Best of all, he supports all the local organizations, schools and...
