Worst coffee shop experience so far.
TLDR: went in for breakfast, not busy at all, waited 40 minutes for food, left without food and a partial refund. After partial refund our coffee ended up costing $15 or about $7.5 per beverage.
Went in Just Love for some coffee and breakfast on a Sunday around noon. Place was mostly empty, about 2-3 other parties there. We ordered two coffees, a breakfast burrito and an avocado toast. We were told it would take about 10 minutes for food, no biggie. Cost was $37.00 after tax and tip which is crazy but hey, we paid it so we’re the dumb ones. Anyway we get our coffees and begin our arduous wait. After ten minutes we begin wondering when the food would arrive but at this point we weren’t too worried about it. Another ten minutes goes by and we’re starting to be concerned, but mostly due to the fact that other parties began complaining about their wait times, and had their food prepared incorrectly. Another ten minutes goes by (30 min now) and we start discussing an exit strategy. I’m typically patient and non-confrontational so I’ll endure a long wait if I have to. We decide to give it another 10 and then make a refund move. During this period another customer begins complaining about her breakfast burrito taking 45 minutes and this prompts us to give up and bounce. I request a refund for the food and the staff kindly obliged. They were very nice but also didn’t try to solve the problem, instead they just complained about the kitchen staff. We were refunded but the original tip remained and did not get refunded. Annoying but whatever, we were only concerned with making our exit. In the end, we spent 40 minutes sipping our $7.5 coffees waiting for nothing. Luckily, I had good company to make the wait a bit enjoyable! Read morePaid over $17.00 for a mediocre sandwich and cold cup of coffee. When they brought my sandwich out, I didn't get my coffee. I approached the counter to inquire as to why, she turned and filled a cup with water and put a double shot of espresso in it. I though it odd, but just went with it.....I was getting an americano I guess. Whatever. When I got the my car, I took a sip and it was cold...like tap water. I took the cup back in and asked what the deal was; why my coffee was not only NOT coffee, but cold as well. This is where it gets ridiculous. The girl behind the counter said they were out of coffee, so she just went ahead and pulled hot water and some espresso instead (rather than simply tell me she was out of coffee). When I said, "Yes, but even THAT is cold." She said, "The machine is not heating the water - something is wrong. It is usually REALLY hot." I said, "It obviously wasn't hot. How could you not know?" She said, "I didn't know because it was still steaming when she pulled the water." I said, "It couldn't have been steaming. If it was steaming the water would have been hot." At that point I just said, "You know what, keep it" and walked out. The utter lack of customer service (e.g. not saying "I'm so sorry, sir. We are out of coffee" instead of just making up a drink to give me) and lack of integrity (e.g. just making up nonsense excuses - "I didn't know it was cold because I saw the steam") are all too typical of businesses who want our money but can't find competent workers. I won't be...
Read moreI was employed here. I will always love JL’s coffee, but I did not have a good experience working here. Just Love has their corporate of course, but then they have individual owners for each location. I had a very poor experience working for Darren Park, owner of Nolensville location. To start off, I was lied to in my interview about how much I would make. I was promised $16/hr, come to find out I was barely making $13. Which leads me to my next problem, I wasn’t able to view my paystubs and struggled to get ahold of them for months. Darren told me I needed to call the company, when I contacted them, they told me he needed to send me a password reset. He never did, but finally I was able to get in after trying for a while on my own. Lastly, after several of us discovered the exact same problems, he explained the tip money was being split in a way that in my 5 years of restaurant experience, I have never heard of. Being a senior in college, needing to make more cash, and needing a healthier work environment, I decided my best option was to get out as soon as I could, and I did. I worked a 2-week notice and respectfully left in January. The team was great and the manager at the time, Mya, took care of us the best she could. It’s truly a shame the owner did not do the same thing, costing him not just me but 3-4 other girls who also left. Quite a shady way to...
